I have EYEBROWS!!!!

At last! And my hair is coming back in, as well, but it's really short and patchy. But my eyebrows are totally back to normal. I might even have to shape them soon!

My eyelashes are reappearing, but more slowly. I can wear mascara, though.

When my hair first started re-growing, it had no color, I swear. Not gray, or even white, but a weird translucent non-color. It has darkened up some, but I have discovered that if you color it, you can tell much more readily that it really is growing.

No sign of underarm or leg hair, and that's fine with me. No pubic hair, either. I don't care, but the whole pre-adolescent look is not my hubby's favorite. LOL.

    Isn't it great to get
back to "normal" so to speak. I never lost my eyebrows but I lost my eyelashes, underarm and facial hair which was great. It all came back including pubic area. My hair is curly which is a source of amusement for everyone because I've always had super straight hair. I am enjoying it. I usually wear it short and spikey and now I can wear it in a pixie style too if I want too. I really hope it stays curly. At least I'll have gained something positive out of all this. Enjoy your hair!

Carlene, I am sitting here laughing reading your topic. Isn't it the greatest thing to get your eyebrows and lashes back. I was so excited when mine started coming in. You should see my hair. Talk about color. I can't figure it out. Ha...maybe the chemo affected my eyesight. My hair it soft as that toilet paper they throw on TV, curly as a scroodle noodle, and the color....YUCK. Give me the wig...heck with my hair.

    Hair, Hair, Hair
I hope yours grows as quickly as mine did. It was so soft at first - like teddy bear fur. I was also very pleased to have the brows and lashes. I thought it made me look more human. I love my silvery, wavy hair. Went to the hairdresser for the first time since chemo last week - 6 months after the last chemo. My eyelashes have grown back in for the 2nd time too. So weird.

    Whoo Hooo!
Mine is growing back too, although I never completely lost it all this last time. I went to the beauty salon the other day, to color it, and it came out green! I figured 2 weeks out of chemo, so it forgot to mention the chemo thing. It was litterally dark green. THey put another brand of permanent color on it and it was fine. I never did mention the chemo.

    Congratulations! I was
Congratulations! I was thrilled to get my eyelashes back, because dirt got in my eyes several times a day without them. Also very pleased to get eyebrows because I'm lousy at drawing them in with eyebrow pencil :) The hair on my head came in next, and very, very baby soft, but same color as before. I did finally get all the rest of my hair, which for me is not a big deal because it is light and sparse. I've always had curly hair, but now it is even more so. I've been looking at straightening irons in TJ Maxx, as I really loved the straight hair of my wig.

Carlene - I would never know from your picture, that you don't have eyebrows and lashes. You are an artist!

    Thank you, DB! Everything
Thank you, DB! Everything in the photo is totally fake! I'm wearing a wig, and my eyebrows were created using a brow powder. The illusion of eyelashes is just makeup. I lined the upper and lower lids with plain old black eyeliner. Nothing fancy, just stuff from the drug store.

I tried false eyelashes but never did get the hang of it. I wore them all the time, about a hundred years ago, but this time around, I just could not achieve decent results. So I gave up on those.

    It may sound silly...
I thought that was 100% you in the picture. I thought it was your hair, eyebrows etc.
I laughed about the eyebrows because people always tell mom that hers look great but little do they know they are tattoos. She had it done years ago because she lost all of hers during menopause.
You look great in the picture and i am sure you look great now too. Does this mean you'll post an updated picture?

    Hi Carlene
Isn't it great when the eyebrows and eyelashes start to grow back. I did have to have mine shaped the other week. My eyelashes are full in now and i've even had eyelash extensions to make them look even LONGER!!
The really weird thing is that my pubic hair has come back with no grey in it at all (unlike the hair on my head) lol!
Also my underarm hair has come back almost blonde (not grey) - STRANGE!!!!!!

    Michelle,
I should be through with my chemo treatments by mid-May so I was curious about when did your eyelash and eyebrow regrowth start? How long after treatment?
Losing my hair was hard but the loss of eyelashes and eyebrows seemed more difficult.
What is amusing is that my hair has starting regrowing now...but just lost my eyelashes and eyebrows around the third treatment.

    I finished Carbo/Taxol last
I finished Carbo/Taxol last March, but then I did a year of Taxol maintenance and just completed that the end of January. Like you, I experienced some re-growth before my treatment was over, but it was hit and miss. The new growth would come and go. Sometimes I would have long tufts of hair on top (kind of like a Kewpie doll), and it had a really strange texture - like cotton candy.

My eyebrows were a total blank until I was completely off the Taxol, then they came in quickly. It only took about two months for my eyebrows to fill back in, but the lashes are still short and stubby, compared to pre-chemo.

No pictures sans wig will be forthcoming anytime soon. I look like my 10 year old grandson, who just had his hair buzzed for the summer. Not a good look for me.

I so know the euphoric feeling when HAIR returns. Isn't it funny how we take our hari for granted until it is gone.

Just had to share your happiness, Carlene!
I was bald 3 times, so I know the thrill you are experiencing so well!! Today, when I went for my chemo, and was told we'd be looking for a new treatment drug if my CA125 goes up at all on today's lab draw, my husband asked "Any thought of returning to taxol again?" ... and my first thought was "Oh, NO, bald AGAIN!" But my oncologist said "I think we've already gotten everything out of taxol as we could and it will no longer be effective for Linda." & I'm ashamed to admit that I did feel relieved that I wouldn't be going into summer bald again.

Ah, vanity! & I agree that eyelashes and eyebrows are more important to me than hair on my head!

Linda....I so understand. I elected to do a year of Taxol maintenance, but I wished with all my heart that it didn't mean an additional year of baldness. I was a bit surprised , however, when my doctor told me that some women turned it down because they wanted their hair back ASAP. I'm vain, but not quite THAT vain.

    New Look
I've been off of chemo since February and my eyebrows and lashes are coming back. My hair is slowly returning, but it is soft and fuzzy white. I colored it for years and I once told my hairdresser that I wanted to grow it out just to see what it would look like. She laughed and said oh no you don't want to know! Well, now that I know that I probably got my dad's genes for premature white hair, I think I'll leave it that way. Saves me the $90 every 6 weeks! My mom, who keeps asking what she can do is going with me on Saturday for a fitting on a cute wig I picked out and she's going to pay for it ;). My husband actually picked the wig out for me, said it makes me look ten years younger ;-)So now I'll have my little old lady white hair look, probably until the inevitable next round of chemo, and my cute little wig. I can pick and choose which I want to go out in according to whichever side of the bed I wake up on lol! Carlene, I'm with your husband on the pre-adolescent look. My husband says it's the Brazilian in thing, but it creeps me out!
