I had my partial mastectomy. Clear margins and no lymph node involvement detected. It was like I was reborn so I now celebrate it as a second birthday. I'm taking the day off from work and even bought myself a present.

    What a exciting day.You should buy yourself a NICE gift and sleep in. And think about all the other gifts you will be getting in the future. When I was first diagnosed I didn't think about the future but I do now.


    I understand how you feel. I missed my 1st anniversay.Didn't think about it but one day while shopping I thought"I need to celebrate my 2nd and ALL the many years I WILL be surviving".I decided I would buy myself a gift. Not sure what yet??? My day is coming up Aug 19.That was DX Day.

    To answer the gift question.
    I bought myself a cool necklace with a crescent moon and a star. I love it.

    To answer the question about a partial mastectomy, a partial mastectomy tales more of the breast but leaves the breast in tact. My breast is now quite perky leaving the other looking tired and droopy. Insurance would cover fixing it but I wouldn't bother. If I cold trade a boob lift for a face lift, I would be all over it. LOL.

    I had a lumpectomy. I've had benign tumors since I was 20.So I was a tad bit smaller on the left side.BUT now with the cancerous tumor and 2 more benign ones that were found within a couple weeks I am smaller,now more noticeable. Different to the point my husband remarks about it with my clothes.He tells me "you are bulging on one side.Cant you find a bra to fit". The right side my bra is to small but the left side just right.So I bulge big time on 1 side.

    My 36C bra is to small for one side but to big for the other.I need a 36D but the type of bra I like I can't find.I try to adjust the one with the overflow but can't do it in public.

    For a boob lift??? I think I will stay the way I am.I am tired of it being cut on.Even though I have no scars that are noticeable I don't need the trauma.

    I think jewelry will be my present.A necklace.At Christmas when all the jewlery was on sale I brought a heart necklace.I thought it was time for a piece of jewelry. It was that shopping day that got me thinking about presents for every year. My friend thinks of me too.She told me about a jewelry store that has the cutest breast cancer necklace.I looked on line for it.Cant find it but will look closer to AUG. My friend told me the owner of the place was a 29 year bc survivor.

    My PC is a woman and said that the same stores that fit women who have had mastectomy surgery can fit us with a wedge that fills out the bra cup. I haven't done it but it might help if we are wearing lower cut tops or summer jersey tops.
