Anyone doing folfox at the moment ? share your stories here

got a call early this morning from chemo ward. where are your bloods ?
i said, I don't need them as onc said my bloods are perfect and never change.
The onc nurse said bit we want them anyway, come in asap.

So, I dropped the kids at school and watched keith get his first class photo in kindergarten. they all looked so cute.

Then off to hospital, did bloods, went to xray to book in a barium enema on thursday, now this should be lots of fun. Anyone had these before ?

Met my surgeon in the hall, he is so friendly and warm.

Went and had a vegetarian lunch with my mate dane, who has visited me every chemo treatment for hours. Real caring and compassion. He gave me a book.

The chemo ward was a disaster today 4 onc nurses away, 3 left to look after lots of patients. they got temporary nurses who new nothing about chemo.

I was the last patient to leave as they asked I could wait. slept like a baby through all the chemo. wokeup 5pm juiced up and ready to go, feeling reasonable.

Who know how this cycle will do. no walk today.

All the best to everyone,

love to all

Pete ( I am on the double dex again, sorry )

    Hey Pete!
It must feel good to know you have just one more folfox treatment.

I have had a double barium enema; didn't find it too bad. The prep was the worst part of it.

You are really enjoying your special moments with your kids; that is awesome.

    Hi Pete,

Take it easy a couple of days if needed, as you know. Glad you're counting down and almost there- yay for you! I love how you're always so cheerful and positive.

    Take it easy!

    Pete you amaze me.
11 treatments and one to go. I only had to do 8 and the last three without oxy. I dont know how your doing it but you are and thats awesome. ONE MORE buddy and you'll be done.
Great job hang in there almost time to celebrate.

I'm 8 days out from under the chemo and although I still have foot and bowel issues I'm hoping things are going to start to heal soon.

    attaboy Pete!!!

Congratulations on making it to # 11.I suspect you are gonna' be one of the ones who makes it through all 12 rounds of Folfox. You deserve a gold medal. Take care, rest up, and keep up the positive attitude.

Never had a barium enema and hope I never have to...sounds interesting, like in eewww! I did have to drink 2 bottles of vanilla flavored barium for my abdomen/pelvic CT scan today. Have been drinking lots of fluids since the scan and it still feels like the barium has turned to concrete in my gut.Of course I am having problems with my gut anyways, thus the need for the scan.

Keep on smilin'Pete. Always love to see your avatar.

maybe the XXX, the exercise, the juicing, the diet, the TCM, the supplements, the meditation are helping, maybe its just my make up.

My closest friend here with stage 3 like me, made only one oxali dose and he was pulled of it. He only made one, he was 49 with 2 kids and it kind of breaks me heart. I am so glad you made your 5 treatments. From the clinical trials I have read the oxali pain is not in vain.

pm me if you want to try the naturpathic bowel stuff. managing the stomach and bowel has been a small obsession with me. I must mentioned diarrhea at least once per week. I am so glad I saw a naturopath. for my gut I take probiotics on the tongue straight, helps with thrush as well. then 2 teaspoons slippery elm with water. wait 30 minutes. Then eat breakfast. then take supplements, gut relief powder and digestive enzymes.

then morning tea I juice. at night just before I start cooking dinner, I take probiotic on tongue. slippery elm, dinner then supplements. I then take gut relief and digestive enzymes.

I squeeze my bag constantly, I am slightly obsessed with it. No more trips for to ER with chronic diarrhea. ( I hope ) Once bitten twice shy.

PM me if you want any gut advice. Finding a really good naturopath ( I have a pair ) was worth the effort. I even have treatments for the neuropathy coming, which I really need. I hate the tingling in the fingers that starting up.

I have been walking bare foot when I can on different surfaces to stimulate the nerves. Telling my brain that it has to feel my feet properly.

If I am clear of chemo I take chinese herbal medicine in tea form, I sip this all day.

I hope your bowel and feet get better.

    cheers,

    Pete

I know I'll be resting over the next few days.
Its a beautiful life we share, why else would we spend so much time here caring and sharing and trying to find the best ways to beat our pesky tumours or their remnants.

    Hey, Pete.

I really enjoyed reading about you watching Keith get his class picture taken. I could feel the pride!

I've had barium enemas before. No fun, but I'd rather do that than a colonoscopy.

I know I am fortunate to be at this point. I was so sorry you, lori and many others had such a bumpy ride on our folfox express. the last one will be special.
We will be away camping 600Km up north, so on tuesday 12th april, I fly down 10am with mel my 9 year old daughter and her girlfriend who will be camping with us. Then the girlfiends mum drop mel and I off to chemo for the last.

My friend dane, who has been to every chemo treatment, yes everyone is going to drop mel and I to the airport around 4pm, and back to camping. the camping is pretty basic, no power, but its a magical spot. trial bay gaol in south west rocks. its so untouched and the kids love it.

Then on the 14th I drive to the nearest big hospital and they will take off the bottle and flush and I will be done. as a co-incidence the first chemo nurse I met was Kirsty, she has moved up to port macquire hospital and was the one who made it so easy to get the bottle off without another flight to sydney.

The last folfox is special for a couple of ways.
    love and hugs,
    Pete

No fun, gee thats what i was suspecting. First class photo is special. I was taking some video on my phone and the photographer said hey you cannot do that. child protection issues. Its more like profit protection, but I put the phone away and walked over to him up on the stand and gave him a kiss and left to get chemod.
    hugs,
    Pete
