Taking a Break

My CT scan results showed that I'm close to remission, except for small tumors in the abdomen. Both the chemo doctor and GYN/ONC said that if it were them, they'd take a rest from the chemo and its side effects and watch it. My platelets and ability to fight infection did take a beating. They say that surgery would be too invasive and perhaps do more harm than good in dragging my body down. But surgery to reverse the colostomy is not out of the question down the road. I see the chemo doctor again on May 31st to check for any changes in my CA 125 which are now down to 22.7. I'm trying to look at it as a break to let my body gain strength for battle if the numbers do go up. I'm going to work on building my strength with diet and exercise, so that I'll be strong enough for whatever happens. But I'm still anxious thinking the chemo has been my lifeline.

    partial remission
Bummer you didn't get into full remission but I think it is a good idea to give your body a break!!! Sometimes it is hard not doing something!!! Enjoy the break!

Also, I think there is a vaccine trial for women in partial remission. I remember my onc mentioned it to me a few months back.

    Breaks are good
Fighting this disease takes alot out of us, your numbers sound good, maybe a break will be good for you and give your body time to heal. I coun't get all my chemo I was only able to get 4 out of 6 my body just couldn't take any more. Your body knows what it needs and will usually tell you.

    We will miss you
