My fellow female Colorectal Cancer survivors who have lost hair

Ladies,
I purchased a wig when I first found out that I had cancer. I was very fortunate not to have had to use it, not once. I have never worn it. I would like to give it to one of you, to someone that needs it, maybe someone who cannot afford to buy a wig. I have posted a picture of it on my expressions page. It is brand new. It is a light brown synthetic wig that grazes the top of the shoulders with long layers and has wispy bangs. It is a good wig, not the $29.99 Zsa Zsa Gabor special. I paid over $300.00 dollars for it and to have it sit in a box when I know one of you needs it or wants it to feel good would make me so happy! I have a brand new wig brush, shampoo and conditioner that comes with it. I DO NOT WANT MONEY FOR IT! I would like to make someone happy and to give someone the opportunity to smile at themselves in the mirror! I will send it to the first person who would be able to use it!
I have been so lucky to be healthy again, scans and colonoscopys have been clear, and the doctors truly beleive I have beat this!

    How very generous of you. If by chance you do not get any takers, ask the nurses at your chemo lab. When George gets chemo sometimes there are 1 or 2 wigs there and the nurses said they fly out of there, lots of people simply can't afford them.

    You have been fortunate to be clear and that is wonderful now you are playing it forward with your wig. Good job.

    Kathy... that is so sweet of you to be thinking of your fellow female semi-colons. As one who has just lost all her hair during the first three weeks of the first infusion of Irinotecan, I can speak first hand for how hard it hits us females. No matter how much one prepares oneself for the possibility that this will happen to you, no matter how much your intellect tells you, "It's only hair! A small price to pay temporarily for saving your life!"... still, it is a shock to us females when it does happen. Society, through advertising, commercialism, and expectations puts such a high priority on "looks" and what it "Looks" like to be a healthy, attractive female. Every single one has beautiful, healthy hair. Even those with bad haircuts are shown with healthy thick hair ;)

    And yes... wigs are not cheap. Oh sure, you can get the off the shelf, 24.95 Halloween specials and sometimes it's fun to dress up in the neon orange, pink or green wigs... but then everyone knows you are doing that for fun. But what about the times you just want to go out in the evening with your hubby or a friend, for dinner and you just want to blend in with everyone else. You aren't embarrassed that you are fighting cancer (you are actually very proud of how far you've come), you aren't even embarrassed that you have no hair.... but you just want to know you can dress up and look totally normal for one night. Or go out shopping with girlfriends and no one at the mall takes a second look at you because you look every bit as healthy as everyone else. These are really important moments in all of us gals' lives.

    So thank you for giving someone this opportunity! I have just purchased two beautiful wigs myself (well, I really like the one light brown with copper highlights, and am ok with the ash blonde, sort of) :D But I know, when I want one of those evenings or days... I can have them ... and that's important to me :)

    You were able to express exactly what I was thinking. I bought this wig to match my hair and the cut right before I started chemo. I did not know if I was going to need it or not, but to me it was like an insurance policy to have it in the house waiting just in case. I am vain, I can admit it, the thought of not having hair was horrific for me. I wish I was not that way, but I am.
    So, now that I am done, I want someone else who is facing this to feel beautiful!
