I spoke with my mother-in-law this weekend. She completed her rads on Friday! Yay! and she did fine, except for a little soreness from a necklace she wore on Friday to her celebration dinner. She's taking a break for a while, then she has her exchange surgery coming.

The bad news...my sister-in-law (also in treatment for BC) has a tumor in one of her kidneys. It's taken over about 90% of the kidney, so she's basically been living with one working kidney for some time. Surgery to remove it is scheduled for the 21st.

Can I just say what a nasty disease this is!!!

My mouth dropped opened, as I realize that there are
'3' Women in 1 family that has been attached by this beast. Devastating to say the least for all 3 of you, and your family who adore and love you all.

'sucks' doesn't even begin to describe what the three of you WARRIORS has endure in each private struggles, and personal journey. "Joy" and Hope describes what is waiting for each of you, at that finish line.

    Hope, Peace, Strength and Courage

    Kidneys/BC
I can't imagine going through BC and then finding a tumor on the kidney. That has to be very very scary.I hope things turn out fine and also wish your MIL the best.Sounds like things are fine with her.

    This is a nasty disease
now you have it in triplicate, (showing my age here). Today I was ticked off for the first time at the disease. I had been so busy learning about it that I did not have time to get ticked off so it hit me today.

The good news is that there are two kidneys. So you see even in the bad news there is good news.

I hope to get past ticked PDQ

    Cancer stinks. Your family
Cancer stinks. Your family sounds like mine--although mine is all related to me: 2 sisters, 1 brother, father, uncle, grandmother, etc. The good news is that my 2 sisters and I have survived breast cancer for many years. I am praying for you and your family Linda. Hang in there!

Very happy on the good news
Very happy on the good news about your mother in law, but, very sad to hear about your sister in law. I do know someone that lived into their 80's with one kidney and died of a heart attack. So, praying they get all of the cancer.

    You are always a lady
    Dear Gabe N Abby Mom,

You are always a lady in all situations. In fact, I think of you as ONE CLASSY LADY. Your last sentence showed me how you are dealing with this news. Another person would have been much more colorful with the words. You seem, to me, to have a calmness surrounding you. I am wondering if it is your basic nature.

The good news is wonderful for your mother-in-law.

The bad news is terrible to hear about your sister-in-law. I wish and pray that her other kidney is not tainted by the cancer. Please give her my best wishes for a successful surgery and tell her that I am sending her my strongest hugs.

    Lots of Hugs,
    Janelle

YES you can say it and I totally agree
Just the thought of 3 in the same family fighting at the same time is too much and it seems like you are all doing it with grace. So happy for your mother in law and prayers are going out for your sister in law. This b/c certainly has more than its share of ups and downs. How are you doing sweet lady yourself.
