Dear Friends,

I have noticed that many of us now have avitars which show our pets or fav animals.

I thought it might be interesting to hear those funny stories which come from sharing our lives with them.

**************************************************************************************
The two kitties in my pic are Smokey (grey male) and Sweetie (black & white female).

Smokey is probably misnamed, as he is a real RASCAL.

When you are walking thru the house, he will race ahead of you and just flop over in the walkway as a not so subtle way of saying "Pet ME!".

He also lets you know that he is the Alpha male of the house (actually the only male...lol). I have a favorite place to sit in the living room near the light when I read or do my crocheting. If I get up to get a drink or answer the phone, I will likely find Smokey has taken over my place. If I take a seat somewhere else, he will wait until I get up again and move there! Kinda like musical chairs.

They are both very loving friends and have definately helped me on this journey with cancer. Will save a story about Sweetie for another time.

Hugs to all,

Marie who loves kitties

    Good Idea:
Our cat is Simon often referred to as "King of the Castle". He even has his own kitty throw over the back of the couch for lounging. He was an abandoned cat we adopted about 10 years ago.

If George and I are sitting together on the couch we get the stare down until we move apart and he jumps up and curls up between us.

He also jumps up and sleeps in our bed at night even though he has his own lambs wool bed. Every morning when I make the bed up, I find 3 toys in it. He goes back and forth and brings his favorite toys.

If he is in the mood for a few treats, he goes in the kitchen and paws/bangs at the cupboard door where his treats are kept. No ignoring him, he keeps it up until you get up and get him a few.

    Hugs - Tina

    Animals
I can't get all my animals together to get a picture of them all. Sometimes the 3 dogs and 1 cat will lay together, but no way are the other two "independants" going to hang around some dogs.
My cats are Junior, Furturd and Mr. Tobias (I did not name Junior or Furturd).
My dogs are Romeo Portifino Oceano, Julietta Maria and Kiwi Chu Chu Chen #2.
Romeo and Julietta are the parents of Kiwi. They are all Lhasa Apsos.
Junior and Furturd were rescue cats and Mr. Tobias WAS a feral kitten of which I had the original pleasure of being horribly scratched as we tried to tame him down. He is the most loving of cats now, my little buddy.
3 dogs and 1 cat sleep on my bed, Junior sleeps on the couch in the living room and Furturd sleeps on my son's bed.
Romeo is suffering from Alzhiemers (yes, dogs get Alzhiemers, I did not know this myself) and he now barks at the coffee table and forgets how to get in his doggie door and has forgotten how to jump up on the bed. But he is quite active, he just forgets alot of things.

    Harley is Marley...
    ...nuff said.

As Jed Clampett used to say on the Beverly Hillbillies:

"One of these days, I'm gonna' have to have a long talk with that boy..." LOL:)

Harley came on board while I've been sick and through all the surgery and treatments, I've not been the "Papa" that I've needed to be to him.

When I'm well enough, we have to get him to obedience school and get him settled down - he's sweet one minute and a runaway freight train the next.

I remind myself that he's a young, active puppy with his whole life ahead of him. He's athletic, he's smart, he's full of energy.....at this time I feel like I've failed him on so many levels.

But I hope to change that as soon as I'm able and I envision a time when he'll settle in and be calm and build alot of great memories with us, just like his brother Sundance used to.

I will say that he is mischievious and "looks for trouble" at any opportunity - in reality, he's looking for attention.....don't let his good looking face fool you - he'll sucker you in and it's game on.

We're thankful that's he's healthy, all dog, and just full of life - a stark contrast to me and Kim right now. He's so handsome and all of his parts are put together nicely and he is really a beautiful golden retriever. He's 15-months old now - built like a brick $hit house with a V-8 motor that is always runnin'.

    Nice post, Marie!

    Our Behuahua
After I had my colon resected, my wife brought our beloved Behuahua (Beagle/Chihuahua They call them Cheagles, but I think Behuahua is funnier.) to visit me.

Gizmo came over and sniffed me in the wheel chair, but was indifferent to me. I was wearing a hospital gown, had a tube in my nose, IV in my arm, pick line in the other arm. I smelled like antiseptic. I picked her up and then she went face to face with me. Then all of a sudden she recognized my smell and went nuts licking me and wagging so hard I could barely hold her. My wife and I were laughing so hard. It was quite an experience. Gizmo has a true attachment to my wife and I, we are a pack.

When I get down from the pain. Gizmo comes over and sits right next to me and barks a woo woo to me, telling me to get up and take her for a walk. She has been a real positive in our lives and my psyche though the journey of cancer recovery.

    Best Always, mike

I can't remember if I shared this story...
My cat sometimes walks across my body in the mornings to wake me up to feed her. It used to make me laugh until the morning after port surgery when she decided she wanted to play the game of "Battleship" with my port site. Let's just say she sunk my battleship directly on her first try.

I now use a body pillow for protection.

    Oh Craig:
Don't be so hard on yourself. Harley knows just how much he is loved and wanted. Building memories, heck, I think you already have some good memories and stories with that dog. I bet he makes you smile just as much as he gets into trouble.

Thanks for the link. That guy makes some funny cartoons. I watched several of them, and my wife kept watching them until she went to sleep.
