Kind of looking forward to it/kind of dreading it. They tell me it's nothing compared to the mastectomy. I will probably feel great. Would appreciate input on what to expect.

Thanks.

    They are right
Compared to your mastectomies, this one is a piece of cake. Plus, you get the added benefit of getting rid of the expanders, which I thought were somewhat uncomfortable. My surgery was scheduled for 7am and I was home before noon! I would recommend wearing a button down blouse so that you don't have to move your arms around a lot for the first day or so. I didn't have drains after this operation which was great. Other than Tylenol, I didn't need any pain killers either. I was given antibiotics and was told to make sure to finish them b/c you don't want to get an infection around your implants. I felt a little tired for a couple of days afterward.

I felt some anxiety before this operation and kept asking myself why, but I think it just harkened back to the mastectomy surgery which was traumatic for me.

I hope that your surgery goes really great and that you are feeling good tomorrow. Good luck!

    Jennifer,
Sending positive thoughts & prayers your way tomorrow. I'm sure you will be fine. I had my exchange surgery on December 1, 2010. They did the exchange surgery, did my nipple, plus I had my ovaries & fallopian tubes removed at the same time. No problems or pain at all! It was definitely much easier than my mastectomy. Just remember you still have to rest and take it easy for a while.

Jennifer 1961 .. How are you doing after your
exchange surgery? As difficult as the mastectomy and tissue expanders (no, for me). Are you happy with the look, and feel (not like you can feel much, or see with all the bandages) LOL.

    Let us know.

    Jennifer,

I don't know how I missed your post last week, but I'm hoping that everything went well, and that you can now hug without feeling self-conscious anymore!

(if I see a story on the news about "San Fernando Valley Woman on Hugging Rampage" -- I'll know it's you! :-)
