Legs hurt really bad but no swelling they feel like I've exercised you know how it feels when you've worked out really hard and your legs feel over worked. I'm on taxotere and have 3 more treatments.

I had the same problem. And
I had the same problem. And believe it or not, some light exercise usually helped. I 'walked' pretty slowly on the elliptical most days, only for 20 to 30 minutes. Some days, I couldn't even do that. Elevating my legs also helped sometimes.

I hope you feel better soon. Take care.

    I can relate!!!!!
I was on taxotere and carbo, Herceptin. My legs were my biggest complaint.
Pain, just like you described and later on swelling as well... I looked like I had
elephant legs. My joints still hurt but I have been taking Glucosamine for joint
health and it really worked for me.As a matter of fact I ran 5K yesterday for
the first time since I started chemo.

    It WILL get better!

    Hugs,

Damn .. chemo therapy and its lovely side efforts .. yes,
this is typical and common. Leg cramps or what I like to call -- leg jerks. At times I would cry in the evenings, as I was unable to relax or get comfortable - it did not matter where I layed down, or sat up .. the jerks and pain was extreme. Advil worked, but not always.

As I recalled .. place two or 3 unwrapped soap bars between your sheet and mattress pad -- this works in allievating leg cramps and spasms.

I am sure some of he other WARRIORS have other helpful tibits.

    yep
yep, I have that too - just started my taxol treatment last week and legs ache - have been using extra strength tylenol as I have had a number of biopsies and been told not to use advil right now due to potential bleeding...

yes, it feels kind of like flu...general achiness (don;t know how to spell that!) but seems especially focussed in the legs and sometimes the lower back...also,,,and this is really bizarre...my ovaries hurt! Kind of twinges...has anyone else had that? I think that I would be going into menopause after all this treament...I;m 44.

Legs Hurt after treatment or after shot?
Hello. I just had my first of the four treatments of taxol yesterday. So far I feel OK this morning. Not sick and all. I go back this afternoon for that $6000 shot for my white count. I think that shot is as bad as the chemo. Are you taking the shot? My onc. nurse says it will make everything but you butt whole hurt! Ha. It really has been just making me a little weak. I have been working out all through this up until I found out last week at labs that my red count was down to 8.8. It was up alittle yesterday to 9.1 so we did the tazol treatment. I plan to spend some time on the treadmill today, I hope, before that nasty shot.

Has your eyelashes and eyebrows fell out yet? I am not ready for that! I am just wondering when that happens?

Good Luck, Mollyz. It looks like we might be finishing this out together. Did you have surgery of any kind?

    Have a blessed Day!

    legs were better yesterday
@Monica: are you are taking TAC or just taxol? do you have it every week or every three weeks?

Since mine is weekly taxol I don;t have to take Neulesta (spelling - that $6000 shot that makes everything hurt!) right now. I'm going for bloodwork today and would see how my counts are. I think/hope they should be fine as it;s only my 2nd weekly treatment. If not they would give me another medicine, not Neulesta but some other name I forget right now.

Once I start the FEC after 12 weeks of the taxol weekly(so around March) I would probably have to do the Neulesta, which sounds like not fun.

Hair hasn;t fallen out yet; they said about 3 weeks after starting so we'll see. My wig and turban are ready to go! Did you get your wig yet? I just sent the bill to my insurance company yesterday, $400, hope they will pay it!!! My policy says it is covered as long as I have the doctor's prescription, which I also sent a copy of.

Last night my legs were hurting again, so took 1 ES tylenol and 1 adivan and slept really well. Past two nights (Tues and Weds) my sleep was really disturbed because of the legs hurting and general feeling that I could not get comfortable. Adivan is good! Anti-nausea AND makes me drowsy! :)

    Wishing everyone a good day!

M.onica .. $6000 shot is alled Neulasta -- pretty sure
please ask your Oncologist about the listed side efforts of this very expensive shot, and see if he/she suggest. I guess what I meant to state is that many of us WARRIORS who were given this same shot during our chemo therapy treatment - experienced flu like symptoms for several days after this shot.

Be safe .. and let us know how you are doing.

    Ask about claritin for the
Ask about claritin for the Neulasta, have them check with the pharmacist. I believe it is what the manufacturer recommends for the pain.

I know it is recommended for the Neupogin, and it really helped me.

    Hope this helps,

    Taking Tazol
    Hello Laura,

I took the red devil stuff the first four treatments and now I think that I am taking Taxol. I have a treatment every other week with a shot the next day. I can already feel my neck and back starting to hurt from todays shot. I only have three more treatments so i am hanging in there. My hair started falling out around day 15. I could not stand it anymore so I had my head shaved on day 19. Good Luck with all of that. It is kind of hard to get used to.

    Flu like symptoms are right
Flu like is exactly right. I already feel the shot that i had today. My onc. nurse says to take Aleve. Atleast with the Taxol, I am hoping that I do not suffer from the nausea as bad as the first four treatments.

    Thanks for your responses.

    Exercising might help. What
Exercising might help. What does your doctor say to do? I eat bananas and since they are high in potassium, that has helped me. A potassium supplement might help too, but, check with your oncologist first. Hoping you feel better.
