Took six hours, removed entire rectum and I lost two pints of blood, now I just need to be patient with the pain.

    good the surgery is over
now on to the healing. I sure hope your pain is managed, keep on top of those nurses and docs! The first night is always the worst. I pray your healing goes smoothly and relatively quickly!

Mine was 5 and 1/2 hrs..yours was about normal as well.....
Don't get in any hurry cuz ya ain't gonna go nowhere for a while...use the pain pills, thats what their for...and when ya get ready to escape...catheter out, 5 cups of jello and lay the morphine aside and do 1 lortab every 4 hrs and your outta there, right after ya pee in the urinal and show em...and Buck, its true that the more ya walk the better you will heal and feel, even though its a pain in tha **** ( yep, pun intended)..I have the authority to say that, we are somewhat of a "Band of Brothers"...PM me if ya want with any kind of question ya have and I get right back with ya......Later bud, Buzz

You will have some pain, but
You will have some pain, but it will get better. If I can do this, anyone can. Take your meds before it gets too bad, eat easy meals even though you may want more, and walk often. Just don't do a Kerry and go down 8 floors to smoke and end up with your head on the trash can. I'm happy for your surgery and hopeful for a great recovery.

    walk gently and rest
just take it easy, the first few weeks you got to be careful and slow and gentle with yourself.

I had to do breathing and coughing up flemm, just ask your nurses.
