2 Months Off Arimidex - Reaction Rash - Tomorrow will start generic Anastrozole

As a process of elimination, I went off Arimidex on November 5. First, it was to determine if my tingling/numbness in my fingers and hands was caused by Arimidex. After being off it for 2 months, the tingling/numbness never went away, so it is not the result of Arimidex. Next week I will start physical therapy for the neck and will be fitted with the gloves for carpal tunnel.

The Arimidex, however, did create a rash on my body (torso, both front and back). What is amazing is that I got that reaction in the middle of October, 7 months after being on Arimidex. It just started spreading very slow, then after 1 month, the spreading became faster. Dermatologist thought it was a reaction to my water pill, which I found difficult to believe because I started taking it in January 2007. I never stopped taking the water pill during the 2 months I was off Arimidex.

I saw my new hematologist yesterday. My body looks great. No rash anywhere. She decided to put me back on Arimidex, but not the brand. I am now going generic. Tomorrow, Friday, January 7, 2011 at 12:00 noon will be the first pill taken. It is Anstrozole, 1 mg tablet, made by a company in India, namely Natco Pharma Limited, Kothur, India.

Hugs,
Janelle

My onc put me on Arimidex (generic) after I saw him Tuesday. I started taking it Wednesday and praying that I don't have any side effects from it. My sister took it 8 years ago for 5 years and had no side effects. My generic is only $10 a month copay. Hope you get some relief with pt for tingling in hands and feet.

    Only the Hands
Char, I have tingling only in the hands...not the feet. This is a process of elimination. The pt will determine if the tingling is the result of a nerve pressing on the neck.

If that is not the case, then it has to be carpal tunnel

    Lots of Hugs

    Rashes are odd things and
Rashes are odd things and often so difficult to figure out.

Katherine had a very bad cold and basically (because she was in the middle of exams) took everything over the counter that she could think of: nyquil, dayquil, etc. She broke out in giant hives and ended up having to reschedule one of her exams anyway because her prof wouldn't let her stay in the classroom--but sent her straight to student health. There she received a shot of cortisone, benadryl, etc.

We never did find out what caused the break out. The doc said it could be one of the meds but it could also be viral. Luckily, the rash has nor recurred.

Praying that yours never comes back!

    Char, my sisters were on
Char, my sisters were on aromasin and femara before I started the arimidex. They haven't had any terrible side effects either. Luckily, so far so good with me. I'm praying that you will follow suit and have an easy time of it.
