My father had bladder cancer in 1998. He had a bag and treatment and it was only stage 2 so they did not give him any other treatment. Now he has blood showing up in the urine in his bag. His urethras were removed, prostrate removed, bladder removed and with my mom undergoing chemo i'm like What the f*ck now!

His oncologist has ordered a CT scan. He thought it was an infection but after a round of antibiotics, the blood came back.

I am tired of the character building experiences.

    they never end
I suspect that the character building exercises never end, but it would be nice to space them out a little. Geez, louise!! You can do this, though, even though your mom is already suffering so much and you along with her.

One thing I don't understand is why they do a CT at this point, tho. The CT/PT is easier on the patient and yields more info, so why does your father have to go through the drink a gallon of goop drill? Maybe I don't understand something, but I've long wondered about that.

Is he having any pain, Ketz? Blood in the urine could be from kidney stones although that usually has pain associated with it...

    No pain. He has no
No pain. He has no prostrate, bladder or urethre (sp?). He has some blood in urine almost constantly now since Sept it has turned from pink to dark blood. His oncologist first thought he had a urinary tract infection, but after the antibiotics were finished the blood stopped but then returned. I keep asking and he has no pain. Oh the blood sometimes comes out in clots. I looked at kidney cancer, but that says he should be in pain too. I wonder if God can give us a break on this crap?,

    God
God gives us the strength to get through the crap. I agree that I really don't need any more character or strength building experiences. I am just fine as I am, thank you! I know they will come, though. Try not to let your mind get ahead of you. Wait for test results. Then do what needs to be done. One step at a time, one hour at a time, and if need be one minute at a time. Prayers, Fay

    Hey Ketziah
    Sorry you are

    Hey Ketziah
Sorry you are having a real bad time with your dad. Listen, I went through this with my dad last December. He had a lot of pain in his right side though. He had so much blood in his urine that it was dark brown and looked like iced tea. Is your dad jaundice at all? My dad had mets to his liver from esophageal cancer. His bile duct was blocked with the tumor in his liver. Just a thought. Check into having his gall bladder and liver checked. Ultra sound will show it. Keep us up to date. May God give you the strength and patience you now need. Hugs.

    Getting a break
So sorry, Ketz, that you're going through this. What a blessing you are to your family, though. If it's any consolation, I know your parents are glad they have you to lean on.

P.S. If The Big Guy decides to give you a break, could you put in a good word for me to get one, too?
