I went into my office today for the first time since 2/26/2010. I am retiring effective 11/30 and needed to clean out my office. I had been putting it off because every time I thought about going in, I got emotional. I worked there for 17 years.
Well happy to report it was all upbeat. I got so many hugs and they were just as happy to see me as I was to see them. I got a lot of "you look good" but I know its because they expected the worse after 8 1/2 months of being ill.
I will miss this group and my job but I know it is the right thing for me at this time. I am 62 (will be 63 in Feb) and I want to focus on my health, family, friends and fun!
I will continue to see many of these people who have become more than coworkers. They helped me through some other very tough times in my life. We are like a family but I know now that I am not going to be there, it will never be quite the same. I will lose contact with many of them but they will forever be in my memory.
