MY FIRST POST TREATMENT DOCTORS VISITS

Hello and hope everyone is well today. I met with my medical team today and looks like my healing / recovery will take longer than I thought. My ENT scoped me and is very pleased with all of the surgical sites and did not see anything of concern. He also looked at my vocal chords as he was surprised I still have no voice. He also sent me for a vochal chord video, which was a second scope with a movie to follow. My vochal chords do not want to close when I try to speak, and my Esophagus is almost 100% swollen closed. He told me not to swallow anything for fear of Aspiration.I will have a Modified Barium Swallow Test next week and we will go from there. We are hoping that the radiation only swelled evrything up and no permanent damage was done. I also had a scan done to see how my 2 Blood Clots are progressing. Test showed improvement, but I need to continue my daily Lovenox shots. I also was given a device to help stretch my jaw so I can have more mobility. Right now my jaw feels just like when I had my Jaw wires taken off after 8 weeks of a fracture. Very little movement.

The Radiation and Cheo Doc are all pleased with my progress, but with the swallowing issues, looks like I will be feeding tube dependent for some time. I will have a CT scan of my Neck in Dec. and my first PET in February. I guess, so far so good, just looks like the recovery time is and will take way longer than I figured.

    Hang in there. It's rough, but it's worth it.

    Things will start to heal up and you'll start to feel better. Remember it's a marathon and not a sprint.

    Its tough but your tougher, you will feel better sooner than you know it. Just take your time and dont try to rush things.

    It seems healing always seems to take longer than we hope. I guess we just have a lot of hope. I am so tickled you are beating the cancer. Now it is the nuisance of dealing with the aftermath of the treatment. Give yourself time. On balance, I claim you as a winner.

    The treatment & healing process can be so frustrating.Go slow, everything will fall into place. I was pushing thing's then decided to change my way of working with this & not to be so hard on myself. Let the Dr's do what they must & try to relax a bit. I found it easier to deal with thinking that way. I wish you my best & prayer's are with you.

    Sounds like everything is right on someone's schedule. Wish it were yours but happy that your radiation and chemo is done and that it worked. Keep it strong Mike. You are doing great and will continue to heal daily. All my best to you,

    Mike,

    Never know when it will suddenly just turn around. At about 4 weeks post I had a complete reversal and everything just got progressively better. Hope the same for you. Hang tough dude!
