Hi all,

I want to thank each and every one of you for your well wishes and prayers this week. Pat had his scan on Wednesday and got results today. He has CLL also, so he will never get a complete NED, but it appears that there is NED for the head and neck cancer! We feel so lucky and so blessed and I thank you tremendously for this board. Good luck to Kim & Mark, while waiting for results, Pam M and pattyanny on the 15th, mixleader tomorrow and Hawk711 in December. Good luck also to all of those who have scans that I do not know the date of. I think of all of you always whether you have a scan or not. And Hondo, please know I will be thinking of you at Mayo on the 18th. I hope so very much that it is not cancer and that they can get to the bottom of the pain. I am hopeful that since they did not find cancer at MD Anderson, that it truly is not cancer, and whatever is causing the pain can be treated.

Kim - I have no idea how you are dealing with the waiting! Pat would do the same thing as Mark, but luckily our doctors' appt was made sooner. I was a complete and total wreck yesterday - it did not help that I had downtime as I created all kinds of horrible scenarios in my head. Good luck with the waiting, know I am thinking of you and can't wait to hear the good results of NED!!!!!

    CLL
CLL is chronic lymphocytic leukemia. Pat has had it since 2000 - no treatment yet. It is not curable, except maybe with bone marrow transplant, but it is pretty treatable. It can cause enlarged lymph nodes with some activity on PET, so Pat will probably never get a completely clean scan.

    Thanks for your interest.

    Check it off!!
Myka, I am one of those who likes to check things off the "things to do" list. You and Pat can check off: "Close to NED/First PET! I am very happy for the both of you as you celebrate that milestone and see the list get shorter, and perhaps add new things...positive things. Enjoy.

As for our waiting...knowing that Mark does not want to pursue the results until his appointment is so very typical of him, that waiting does not create anxiety in me. He does not look or act like a man with cancer; but he did not at the time of diagnosis either. I will take the two weeks of "denial" if that is what it is. But I do feel most certain, that on THAT day, the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, when we have the appointment, my anxiety will sky-rocket. Until then, I will just live every day in the moment.

    Thanks, Kim. Pat and Mark
Thanks, Kim. Pat and Mark sound a lot alike. Like Mark, Pat would have no problem waiting. Like Mark, Pat does not look or act like a man with cancer. I am SOO glad you are not anxious. It know it really doesn't do any good, I just can't help it sometimes. I really thought I was doing better this time, until he actually had the scan.

It is actually not Pat's first PET - it is his 4th. He is 14 months out from treatment, 17 months out from recurrence. I was much more anxious this time because it had been 7 months since his last checkup.

I look forward to getting your NED post! It will be a wonderful Thanksgiving for all of us.
