Usually I shy away from the Pinkness of October~ but my Reggie doesn't!!!!!!

Many of you know that Reggie is part of a Native American singing group~ he is honored and humbled to represent the Chumash people and have a part in preserving culture and language which was thought to be long-lost. He is an elder in his tribe, and also one of the captains/paddlers of traditional plank canoes which makes an annual ocean voyage to the California islands of their ancestors.
The singing "gigs" take Reggie to many venues. Last night he was singing at at dinner-ceremony with Native people as well as elected officials from the county and school board. Chief of police, Tribal chairman, etc etc.
Sadly, I had another event to attend, so he had to go without me. :-(

Cutting to the chase here, honestly! I have a pink/white kukui nut necklace which is painted with the pink ribbon logo. Reggie wore it to sing in!!!! He also took my pink bandana and stuck it so it hung out of his back pocket! Now my Reggie is a manly man~ strong, both physically and spiritually.Yet, he wore my pink necklace to a public venue and wore it with pride!

He introduced the singing group and explained where the songs come from and why they are important. He then segued into why for him, wearing pink is also important. He reminded the guests that October is BC awareness month, and that he was honoring his wife Claudia, who is doing battle with the beast, by wearing pink!

So many people came up to him after the performance~ not just to admire and thank him for the singing and the explanation of the songs, but for mentioning his wife who now is part of sooo many prayer groups!

In this month of all things pink, and oftentimes too much pink it seems, I must say I was so touched by the compassion and committment to me my Reggie showed by donning the pink!
