I've got five doses of Caphosol on the Giants to win tonight's game. In San Francisco! I could also throw some of those 4x4 pads with the slit for the feeding tube in. Any takers?

    Bob, you're a hoot
That's the funniest thing I've read all day.
With a sense of humor like that, you'll kick cancer's a*s, no doubt.

    Nice
thanks for the laugh. I could put up a box of PEG syringes and a lip balm if I were still in treatment. Oh, and a case of the goo used to flush PICC lines. Dunno why, but my supplier sent me like twenty syringes with the second shipment of formula. Hope your team goes the distance.

    Texan Here!
Let's see, we've got lots of gauze, some yonkers from the suction machine we don't use, and a big bottle of magic mouthwash we could pony up for THE RANGERS!

That original post made me laugh out loud!

    Fellow Giants Fan...
Bob, you are too funny. As somebody who just moved to the East Coast from San Francisco I'm right there with you. I even managed to stay up for most of last night's game after getting back from my 7-hour round two of chemo! I would never bet against the Giants and besides, all I have at this point are these stupid anti-nausea meds... it sounds like what you have is much better... Not sure I would give that up :)

    Go Giants!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They must have won that game last night for you. Was that a 7 hour round of Cisplatin? I get that one from time to time. Got one coming up soon. Keep hanging in. Lots of good healthy alternatives for chemo side effects. Let me know if I can help.

    Oh no.. .Three big drugs!
I get Adriamiacin, Cisplatin, and Cyclo-something... so much fun. I'm actually doing much better this round than last! I think my acupuncturist helped a ton too... she left these tiny needle things in my wrists and shin area that I swear work wonders. Getting ready to take the dog for a walk and then getting ready to go to a football game tonight... Of course will be listening to the giants/ checking the score on my phone too!

What worked best for you with the side effects? Good luck with the next round of Cisplatin... We should trade diet/ exercise notes :)

    Ladies and gentlemen...
Not to make any of you jealous ($!), I heard a story on Chicagoland radio this past week. One of the DJs was flying back into town, and the flight had been a rough one, because of the wind thing last week. As the plane was moving down the runway, the Pilot got on the intercom and said, "Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Chicago, home of the 1908 World Series-winning Chicago Cubs." Hmmm...just wait til...2023 isn't so far away, you know.

Not to pick on a guy while he's down....
    Kent,

I'm working on a new bridge across the Mississippi River in St. Louis. Since Illinois funded half the project it was going to be painted blue with a big C on it. I talked them out of it. My reasoning - anything blue with a big C on it usually collapses in August every year - didn't want to jinx the new bridge too.

    That's awesome!
That is some funny stuff! Sorry about last night's game. We'll do good tonight. Gotta give the boys from Texas a little something to keep the game rolling. Just not ready for baseball to be over yet. I'm just betting my next round of Cisplatin on the game tonight. That's right, a full 7 hour session in the chair with a view. Kinda like a spa-day. Go Giants!!

    Hey Nicole,
Sorry about that game last night. You know how sensitive we are in the Bay area though. It just felt mean beating up the guys from Texas like that so we showed em a little love last night.
Exercise has always been the best for any side effects for me. I have the hills of Marin to hike in and can be on one 5 minutes out my door so I hit it daily. I try to walk at least a couple hours each day and throw in a full day hike at least once a week. Sometimes I'm pretty slow, just depending on the medicine. I did Bikram Yoga for awhile but now that I got this crazy tube in I don't feel comfortable in the class as none of the guys wear shirts and it's so hot the tube would just show through the sweat even if I did. I still practice yoga at home a couple times a week though. The medical marijuana has also been a blessing during chemo. I haven't found anything that knocks out the nausea faster or stimulates the appetite better. I gained 15 pounds after I started chemo from the increased appetite. I really needed it as the cancer had pulled off about 25. It's still a bit controversial but not in the Bay area of course. For me it feels safer and much more effective than any other meds.
Glad to hear you're getting out and living. Cancer shouldn't take that away from us nor should treatment. Enjoy the game tonight. I've got some chemo bet on the game so root loud for the Giants. Go Giants!!

    Holy Crap!
Well, Bob, your exercise regime is putting me to shame!!! I thought my daily 45 minutes walks through my hilly neighborhood, varied trips to regular yoga, and occasional hikes of 3-4 hours were good! I have really missed Bikram since I left San Fran... I did find a studio about 30 minutes from me (how sad!) but I wasn't sure how I'd feel. I'm also very jealous of your medicinal options. I think this anti-nausea medicine is really what is putting me down! It's even hard to see straight after taking some of them. I still managed to keep my weight up, but if I have to go through radiation I'll need pack on quite a few insurance pounds!

I think you have inspired me to go for a longer walk today... and maybe even some yoga later :) As soon as I stop feeling nauseous I'm checking out Bikram again too.

You REALLY are making me miss the hiking in CA... last year before I left we all trained for Half Dome. It was the most amazing hike ever! I'm pretty afraid of heights but braved the cables to the top... and even managed to get a couple of feet from the edge of the dome :) My favorite hike (other than that) is right in Marin, starting out in Stinson Beach and heading up the trail there to the top of (I can't remember the name!!!) the mountain. I think it was maybe a 13-ish mile hike? The trail to the top is wooded and on the way down it's like the little house on the prarie. And there's a yummy place to get food at the bottom!

Hope you have a great week... what a game that was last night!!! Can't wait for tonight! GO GIANTS!!!!!
