    Good for you...
I'm trying to put some weight back on too. Tough to do as food is not as interesting as it used to be. Dry mouth, taste bud fatigue...but we WILL fight on!

    Looking good
Great to hear you have gained 5 pounds :) As many of us know that can be quite difficult to do. One year post and I have only regained 8 pounds so I would say your 5 is a major accomplishment.

Keep up the good work, you're looking good :)

    Stay well,

    Good to SEE you Dennis!
Congrats on the 5 pounds!! Keep doing what you are doing. Mark too is trying to put some lbs. on. He is in the 170's and shooting for the 180's. My rule is that I cannot be bigger than he is. He supplements with Ensure...should be daily...but it is not...he wants to be soooo "normal".
Great to see you...I have missed there being a picture with your posts.
    Stay strong,
    Kim

    Woo Hoo
Glad to hear of the weight gain. We are trying hard to get my husband's weight stable. He's on total tube feed and dietician said 2500 cals a day (5 weeks ago @ surgery) and he was losing on that, so we've raised it to 2830 with the benecalorie supplement. He's already on 6 cans of stuff per day, plus all the water - don't know how much more his stomach can hold!

    5 lbs is great!

By the way - he got his trache out a couple of weeks ago and breathing has been fine. Sorry to hear you are struggling with your breathing.

Does it have to be water?
    Kimmy,
One piece of valuable advice we got from the nutritionist that would pop in once and a while when Mark was getting chemo was: DRINK CALORIES. As long as you are pushing water through the tube or he is taking it by mouth, make it something that provides hydration and calories, like gatorade or vitamin water. It was a great way to get extra calories into Mark.

    Drinking Calories
Unfortunately he is diabetic and can't drink gatorade - PLUS, he has HIGH potassium, so we have to be careful, even with G2 or Powerade 0. But I have discovered that Propel has 30 cal for a 24 oz bottle and no potassium, so we have added that to our hydration arsenal!
