Didn't want to say anything on your birthday, but have you noticed your hair starting to wave.......bye bye yet? I think it was right after my 2nd treatment I thought I was shedding. Still got a lot of it but it is so thin. The nurse asked me the same thing after my 2nd treatment. Told her it was getting thinner. She said its a good sign the meds are doing their job. It is killing cells as its supposed to do and it may be the only thing we will be able to visibly notice that the meds are working. I can't wait for it to grow back though. Hate wearing that cap when I go out. I like caps but not when I am forced to wear it. My luck it will grow back purple with a racing stripe down the middle. I have heard some weird stories about hair regrowth after chemo. John
Oh yea, see what time it is on the east coast. I am walking on the ceiling at 2:20 in the morning. Its called the Prednisone war dance. YAAHOO!!!!

    Yep...thinning
    Hi John,
Welcome to my..(night owl) world!..ha! I was a stay up late person wayyyy before this cancer. Yes...my hair is getting thinner.UGH! I got it cut again the other day and my hair guy said he could tell a difference in the texture...dry, a bit brittle, and alot of shedding. I'm glad it's a sign that the chemo is working, but a little sad to have such short hair. Always wore it long and enjoyed being able to switch up my styles by wearing it up or down, pony tail, etc. Not much you can do with short hair. Less work for sure now, so I guess thats a blessing not to have to work at styling when tired or stressed out on the pred. Nasty pred...huh? Hate, hate, hate it! Good luck going to sleep!...Sue

    Hair
Hello John and Sue. Speaking of hair, just yesterday I was able to ditch the wig and hats and go to my stylist. It felt so weird but I finely had enough to style into something really cute. It came back pretty thick and somewhat wavy. It looks very Jamie Lee Curtis. It came back in completely dark charcoal!! That and the waviness was new. Don't know how I feel about that yet. I'll get some opinions and decide if I want to keep it this color or not. It does feel good to be free of all the headgear. Goodbye to the last visible sign of cancer. Mary

No hair is not all bad !
Sue,I had a couple of doo rags & because I live in northern VT I got a liner, just for warmth. But mostly I just wore a baseball cap with the liner. The kids kept at me to get a wig but it just seems like too much work, I didn't fuss with my hairbefore chemo, couldn't see the sense of fussing with it after chemo. I wore a button that said "hair by Chemo" & made jokes about it & had some fun with it. It was interesting when someone would come to the door & wasn't expecting baldy to open it, ha, the double takes were a hoot.
Right now the new hair is about 1.5" long but it's so curly it doesn't look any longer than 1/2" & I may never let it get very long. I like wash & go hair!!

    I know!
I totally get that. After a year of freedom now I am back to the hair styling, products and time. I'm not used to it anymore. But like you said it's pretty much wash and go. Mary

    Lack of hair
    Hi John & Sue,
Or you can be like me and decide you love the no hair look. I am keeping mine very short, 1/4" in the back and 1/2" on top. I love it and have never felt more feminine. And this short I don't feel like I need to dye my hair any morre. I just go with the natural salt and pepper, which I always hated in the past. Never wore a wig or scarf but did buy tons of cute hats and soft wool caps for the winter months. And this short I don't have to deal with curly hair. Leslie

    Me too
Just went and got mine cut today, shaved up the back and about an inch on top and couldn't be happier with it. I love the wash and go. It makes mornings getting ready for work a breeze and less aggrevation for avoiding bad hair days LOL.

I do love short hair although I admit winter really sucks but it's a good thing LOL

    Hair Daze
    Hi Beth,
We who love super short hair have to stick together. When I was on the cruise to Alaska 2 wks ago there were 2 younger women with buzzed hair. One was from France, the other had just had her waist length hair shaved the week before. Said she loved it this short. I was sort of bummed because my hair on the cruise was about one inch long and I so needed a hair cut, way too long for me, LOL. Pictures would have looked better with shorter hair. But my hair person was on vacation before my cruise so it was about 2 or 3 weeks too long.
