TWO QUESTIONS

first question,I had my ovaries removed four weeks after my mastectomy. It has now been a little over four years since this happened. How long do I have to put up with these hot flashes, seems like they are getting worse instead of better. Right now I will have a flash and so turn on the fan, then I get cold and turn on my heater under my desk.
my other question has to deal with my implants. my understanding is that I need to get them check after three or four years have went by, which doctor should be following up on this? Plastic surgeon or surgery surgeon?
I like my oncologist but with all the things going on I'm seriously thinking about finding a group that handles all of these things and one that will work together.
thanks everyone

    Hi Rabbit
I hate to give bad news but.. I had a hysterectomy back in 1990 and the hot flashes lasted eleven years. Sorry to tell you that but its true. My sister is in menopause now and it has been ten years. The implants I can't comment on as I do not have them. I wish you all the best. Stay cool.. Kay

I do sympathize in a personal way. I have not had a hysterectomy, but since I finished chemo last October, I have hot flashes night and day. I wake up sweating and then I have to cool down in order to get back to sleep. It's a bummer and my sex drive is dead! I'm going to discuss with my onc this month, sound like thats your plan too. Good luck! Alison

I did not have reconstruction after my bilateral mastectomy in June but I would assume your ps would be the dr to see about your implants. As for hotflashes, I've had them since going through perimenopause age 47 and I'm now 61! I sometimes wonder if they'll ever stop.....

    Hot Flashes
I'm post menopausal but on Tamoxifen as I couldn't tolerate the AI drugs. Been on the Tamoxifen for a year now and am still having hot flashes and my onc seems suprised that I'm still having them. Whatever!!!! This is why every time I tried to go off HRT, my hot flashes were awful and 24/7.

I have had "HOT FLASHES" for
I have had "HOT FLASHES" for what seems to be years and I guess it has, I was on Tamoxifin for 5 years and after that they did ease up but now I am on Aromisen and they have started all over again... I keep the house cold and the fan on me almost all the time and then when the chills start I just wrap up in a blanket, sweater or whatever is close to me. I dress in layers and keep a ice pack handy. Somedays are better than others and I have starting a vitamin regiment as soon as I can find peridin C with bioflavinoids so I hope that helps, if so I will let you know. As far as the who you need to see.... My Breast Surgeon said I need to see her once a year to be checked and I haven't ask my Plastic Surgeon when he would need to see me yet.

    Hi Rabbit
If you are taking estrogen blockers you could have hot flashes. Probably as long as you have been taking them. I have them and deal very similar to Shelby.
As for breast, I would check it with both: breast surgeon and plastic surgeon.
    Good luck
