Since my shoulder and upper arm have been giving me heck lately ive been seeing my physical therapist...they say it has cauderized? and now have tendonitis. Anyway while she was doing her thing of tryin to get my arm back functioning again she has to work it and it was just so painful it brought tears to my eyes and i told her i did not like her at that moment...just like a little spoiled brat would say...."i dont like you cuz you hurt me!"...boo hooo...hehe! At least i got a laugh out of her as im in tears.

But seriously has anyone had this much trouble with their shoulder/arm like this?

    Your eyes are AMAZING!

Hihii, you made me laugh. Imagining being a brat and crying during chemo.
Actually, I think chemo would be even worth a hissy fit. You know the whole
package, kicking and screaming, I am sure it would be a great relief.

I am so sorry for all the pain you are going through Jojo and you do it so
gracefully and with a great sense of humor.

    Hugs,
    Ayse

Jo JO the only advice I can
Jo JO the only advice I can offer and maybe you already do is to take pain meds 30 minutes before therapy to ease the pain. I am so sorry to hear that you are having to go through all of that. Wishing you a speedy recovery and minimal to no pain through your next PT treatment.

I know it hurts. Has the pt given you exercises you can do at home to keep your arm/shoulder loose. Also how do you sleep on your arm. I know if I sleep on my arm a certain way it will feel stiff and hurt until I work the stiffness out. I hope you get this worked out and soon.

I have shoulder pain, hard to lay on either side. it hurt when the PT stretched it, now I do my own stretches, but not to the point of tears. I had tendonitis in my calf, they used iontopheresis (sp) it its a topical cortisone, with electric current. sounds bad but not, and it cleared in up in no time. wonder if you can get massage?

Yes she gave me excerises to
Yes she gave me excerises to do at home to but i stop before i make myself cry and i cant sleep on my right side becuz of it. After my PT tortures me she does massage it to get my stuff to relax again. I hate drugs so i avoid them at all cost when i can...so she tells me to use icepack on it to bring down the inflammation...which works temperarly.

    :(
I am handing you some kleenex JoJo. I am so sorry that it hurts so much. I wish I could offer more than just saying that I hope it gets easier and better for you.

Your PT is just doing what she is suppose to. So, try not to hold it against her. lol

Perhaps, go treat yourself after a treatment. That might make it go faster and easier for you if you focus on a prize or a reward! lol

    Hang in there,

    Sue :)

    Several years ago...
I had s shoulder injury which led to a frozen shoulder requiring PT. Ouch! 4 weeks ago I fell and fractured my left shoulder and am still healing. I'll be in PT when it finishes healing. Ouch again I'm sure. For some reason, shoulders are especially painful when injured. I feel your pain.

Yes, I had to see a PT to get my arm moving after surgery. It was not fun and the first day I saw a small tube taped to the wall (smelling salts). One appointment was the worse and I almost passed out. Then I knew what the little tube on the wall was for. Once your arm has movement again you won't have to go. It's surprising how fast something freezes up if you don't use it. It is getting better? Right?

it's hard to take you seriously looking at those eyes! But seriously, I broke both my shoulders 4 years ago and have no humeral head on the left and a reverse total shoulder on the right (prosthesis). I do pt at home to this day and after the Neulasta shot I ache from shoulder to shoulder. I have to sleep on my back so I don't dislocate the right shoulder. Even though you hate taking drugs a little extra strength Tylenol could help. I always forget when to use ice vs heat but ask your pt. My dil made me a shoulder shrug you put in the microwave and it feels wonderful on my aching shoulders/arms. The important thing is to keep moving your shoulder even in every day type of things like reaching. Use weights too. Hope you feel better or just have another cry......

Yes, I had a totally frozen shoulder and PT warned me that it would hurt as they have to break up the adhesions in the shoulder. I used to take my pain meds about 1/2 hr before going. After about 3-4 visits, my shoulder was better enough where I no longer needed pain meds to go.

I know a mastectomy can be a contributing factor to frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis). I don't know if you had a mastectomy, but, if so, I am sure it can contribute to other shoulder problems.

Believe it or not, shoulder problems (especially frozen shoulder) are also associated with thyroid problems--especially hypothyroidism, which is fairly common in women.

I hate that you were hurting and hope you feel better soon. BTW, you have the most beautiful eyes ever!

    P.S.
I forgot to say that my PT was completely successful. They fixed me and I have never had another problem. I did every exercise they ordered me to do at home and I still do them from time to time to keep that shoulder moving. It has been about 12 yrs now. So don't give up!

    Sorry
Yes I had the samething happen. I had to do rads two weeks after my surgery. During rads you have to put your arm above your head. They had to give me a shot of morphine so that I could put my arm up. After that they sent me to PT, it was sooooooo painful at first, but it actually started to feel better after a while.

Hang in there and keep doing your exercises at home it helps....

    God Bless

Yes, my problem was that my surgeon didn't give me exercises to do after the radical modified mastectomy. I babied that side and because I barely moved it the shoulder froze up. I ended up having 9 appointments when they wanted me to have 11 but I was much better. Now I stretch my arm everyday just to keep it limbered up. Hang in there.
