Please NEVER NEVER give up. My adventures with colon cancer started in 2000.
I was advised that I had stage three colon cancer. Surgery, Chemo, CT scans,
PET scans and wonderful hospital and physician's care. Ten years have gone by.
Last week I visited my doctor (at a well known Houston based clinic, Central Florida branch))for my regular check up. To my total surprise the doctor and his very competent nurse were waiting for me with my GRADUATION papers. Yes they really did make out the documents and hope to never see me again. Hang in there - Do not lose hope. So many of us are cured.

    Thank you so much. We loose touch often with those like you, and it is nice to hear that in just a few years we too can graduate! My graduation day will be September 3, 2019! You are all invited.

    Great to hear this!
    Thanks for reminding us that there is always hope and we can not give up. My greatest wish is for a cure to be found soon and we will all live to a very old age. Thanks for sharing your story.

    Family and friends
    This is a subject that I have not seen mentioned very often. However, I believe that many, if not most cancer patients have probably had similar experiences. I think that all would agree that there have been enormous advances in the treatment of just about all types of cancer. The same goes for medication and instrumentation. As soon as I arrived home after my colon surgery, I began receiving phone calls, visits and emails from close, very dear friends and family. (Actually the calls started when I was still in the hospital). All were made with the best of intentions. The typical call was to ask if I had to carry around a little baggy just like Uncle Mike. Or, some long time friend would recommend a good store for wigs, since the chemo was going to finish off my hair. One close relative tried to explain how my life would totally change or about the awful effects of chemo. I realized that all were attempting to be of assistance, but at first I must admit that I was annoyed to an extent. I sort of think that the problem is that there are probably too many, newspaper, tv and magazine articles referring to the different problems. I now believe that there should be more and more varied indications as to the wonderful work that the cancer researchers are accomplishing. Any comments??

    I agree
    I think some positive press would be great. It truly annoys me if people who have not had cancer try to tell me somthing about it. Unless they're medical professionals, I don't care to hear it, you know?

    I see that your procedure was scheduled for Sept 17. I am sure that you came out with flying colors. I am certainly not considered to be a very religious person, but I do hope and pray that you will have a total recovery. My very best
