just learned of something new on last hospital stay...veins are shot from chemo and can only do blood draw on one arm...they had an iv team that came to the room with an ultrasound machine so they could go to upper arm and to see where and how deep to go...voila...of course that was an option after fighting off the ego maniacs that insist thet can get you blood and fail miserably several times...certainly worth asking for...ps wasn't put on the oncology unit this time...

any other good ideas on surviving blood draws??

I am really sorry that you had to go through that with the I.V. I don't understand why you didn't have a port or a Picc line. Hope the rest of your treatment goes better for you. Take care Kay

hi kay, thank you for your nice thoughts...I have a port but it is not useable when you have infections...can cause permanent damage to the port...also many of the blood draw panels have to be done 15 min apart in different locations of body...it is just how it goes with side problems from cancer...but that ultrasound machine was awesome...love and blessings, shy
