Ok, I now have one dose of chemo under my belt. It wasn't a beach party, but after three days of being down, I am now back on my feet...That being said, prior to diagnosis, I signed up to walk the Disneyland half marathon next Sunday. I had considered pulling out, but realized that I would feel defeated in way too many forms. I am gonna just walk those 13.1 miles and fight just has hard of a battle as I will to beat this breat cancer...I hope this inspires the rest of you guys to keep going and keep pushing on!!

    Just be careful
and drink plenty of water. If you had mastectomy prior to Chemo it will also affect you. Ask your physician opinion.
    Good luck

I do 5 and 10Ks regularly, and have done 2 half marathons...I trust you are already a walker and have done the 13+ miles a few times ? If not, not to be a deterrent, but be really, really careful! Keep hydrated and pace yourself. I have never done the half marathons in race mode, I don't care about my timing...nonetheless, I am aware of how my body feels and I act accordingly. I like to drink Smart Water...it has the electrolytes without being flavored as Gatorade is.

thanks for all the good advice
I plan to be extremely careful. I am going thru chemo prior to having surgery and have already experienced it's wrath on my body. If I hadn't paid for this marathon already, I probably wouldn't be walking. That being said, I have to at least try. If I can't make all 13 miles, at least I made an attempt which is still better than doing nothing..

    I Love Your Attitude!
Good to be careful, drink your water, watch for signs of fatigue--but You Go Girl! Just trying means everything. I'd bet money that you make it too!

    Good luck!

Please check with your doctor first
Chemo is nasty stuff. Putting additional stress on your body might not be wise. I'm in the middle of chemo and walking, but not 13.1 miles. Just check to be sure, please.
