When I was first diagnosed with cancer a good friend said to remember if you only get to bear the scars if you fight the battle to win the war. Didn't think a lot about it at the time but now that I had the mastectomy and well on the way to the "new normal life" the scars are looking mighty good and I'll say I'm proud of them!!

    Wonderful attitude, sistah!
I love your friends quote. May I borrow it?? You've got the right attitude, and here's hoping for your continued good health!

  • Edna, thank you!
I truly appreciate such a positive sentiment!

Early on after my diagnosis when I was Googling and clicking on everything 'cancer', I recall seeing a black and white photo of a woman with a her mastectomy scar and long flowing hair. Her pose was one of liberation and victory. I carry that image in my head now.

I still have the scars from two 30 year old lumpectomies, a scar on my chin from a bicycle accident, some on my left hand from an excited kitten 40 years ago...I may say it was from a bar fight, but that's me being silly.

I love that statement...I feel inspired to put that in a frame and keep it on my desk.

    Thank you for sharing that.
