My expanders hurt, I 'am scheduled to have surgery next week but i'am scared of the out come. The chest aria already look soo ugly. I just started recently looking back in the mirror.I miss by breast sooooooooooo much. I cry almost everyday, I was a size 38dd. Now maybe an a cup. All my clothes donot fit. Some family members ask I thought you had both of your breast removed what happened did they grow back. What a very stupid statement to make. I know that once the surgery is complete I proberly will not have any nipples,I think. well I quess it will be a while before my husband looks at me sexy again. we'l see.

    I didn't go through a mastectomy, I had a lumpectomy. The ugly look after surgery will go away. Healing takes time. I was bruised and swelled for awhile. It does get better. You'll look fine. Good luck with your surgery.

    After my mastectomy, one of my breasts was sunken in to the point that I thought, there's no way it will ever look somewhat normal again.

    But have hope! Your surgery will turn out well. They can do nipple reconsruction and tattoo a nipple where it looks pretty darn good.

    Just be positive and know what you "see" now, isn't going to stay that way. No, you'll never be the same as you were, but once you come to accept the new you and gain some confidence in that, you'll be more at peace.

    And "sexy" is also in the way you view yourself. After your surgery and healing, experiment with clothes and just know you're the same "sexy" person to your husband that you were before. He'll pick up on YOUR confidence and hopefully, respond to that.

    Just a suggestion.

    yeah, the expanders are
    yeah, the expanders are uncomfortable and really hard to sleep with. But, I hear that when you get the permenant ones they look and feel more natural. I'm hoping so. Although, I'm pretty happy with the expanders as far as looks go. I mean, think of what they can do now days compared to 10 and 20 years ago. We've come a long long way. I'm very grateful for that.

    I had the mastectomy with expanders put in. They are not the most comfortable things as a matter of fact their like rocks! I just had my soft natural lookin gummi bear implants put in 4 weeks ago...I was so happy...I had what actually resembled real boobs...minus the nips...but i was really happy and i hadnt felt that good about myself in a long time...for me it made all the difference...even with scares and all. Yes one ended up dropping on me but one thing ive learned thru this whole cancer process is that nothing goes according to plan at least in my case...im just lucky that way.
    Its very hard to feel sexy when you have rocks on your chest but it does get better.
    Maybe hubby is just afraid of hurting you not that he doesnt find you sexy. In my case when i had in my expanders...he always thought i was sexy but he didnt want to touch me cuz he didnt want to hurt me exspecially if he knew i was in pain. They see what we are going thru and have compassion for us and being sexy is just put on the back burner till you start getting better. I think thats just human nature for most.
    The nerve of some people...incert foot in mouth...they just dont think before they speak!
    In this journey i have encountered more rude, insinitive, stupid and uneducated people.

    Yes, expanders hurt, a lot! I'm getting mine out next week and can't wait. As far as your husband goes, I'm sure he still thinks you are sexy! Sexy is so much more than boobs!!! My husband actually kind of likes how I look because I'm a little bigger now, even though they are hard as rocks! He is very gentle and very loving and supportive. I pray that your husband feels the same way, I bet he does. Just try to be positive about your body and I bet he will chime in! Oh, and I don't plan to get nipples and he's ok with that. The thought of another surgery, plus the advantage of never having to wear a bra again are my reasons why. Guess I'll finally decide after the exchange surgery scars heal and see what things look like, but that's the way I'm leaning now and I have his support. It's really all about you right now, so do what you can to feel good and feel good about yourself. It's not the end for intimacy, believe me!
