Hey Ladies, how does radiation affect, if at all, new implants. I had a bilateral mastectomy with immediated reconstruction, now my oncologist wants me to visit the radiologist for possible radiation treatments, due to the tumor being one centimeter from the chest wall....do they just do the radiation right through the implant...I have an appt on Wednesday, but I wanted to get some imput from my wise friends first.....thanks, luv ya

    On old implants.....
My implants are over 20 years old...above muscle...silicone...

I had no troubles with them during radiation....make sure to remind the rad/onc about them when they are positioning your treatment...it's amazing how they can 'bend' the beam!

    Hugs, Kathi
