Doctor has retired

My surgeon has retired. He was at Emory Hosipitl in Atlanta. I have got to make a follow-up appointment for Sept. I've been given names of drs at Emory and have been researching them. It didn't seem that important to me before,but after joining this site I realize how important it is to choose the right dr.. Is anyone familiar with the doctors at this hosipital? Anything at all would be a help!

    I'm replacing my thoracic surgeon. He was chief of surgery at Emory healthcare, He is the one that did my surgery. At this point I worry about a doctor that will be as concerned ,since they didn't do the original surgery. I have been given three names at Emory to concider. I'll take your advice and go to the site you recommended.

    I'm looking for a Dr. in Atlanta too....
    I'm not sure how I feel about the doctor we have. Looking for suggestions. Sandy, my dad's Dr. is at Emory.

    Ask the ICU nurses
    I am an ER nurse, and as a hospital employee, we find it helpful to ask the ICU nurses. They are the ones who see the doctors interactions with the families of very critical patients as well as the care they render to those patients. If you can find someone who knows an ICU nurse in that hospital, have them pick their brain.

    My dr. that retired was Dr.
    My dr. that retired was Dr. Joseph Miller Jr, Chief of thoracic surgery at Emory Midtown. My treatment and surgery was a success and I have been in remission since Nov. '08. Emory has given me three names of Emory drs. They all sound good. I have concidered the dr, that took dr. Millers place.He is the one they suggested, but I'm just so unsure. I have an appointment with my oncologists ( he is in Fayetteville) next week, I'm going to discuss this with him. After joining this site, I've come to realize that even though I'm where I'm at, I don't know what the future holds, so a good dr. is very important. Marissa, if you don't mind posting your dad,s dr. I'd like to know. But if you'd rather not I understand. I am confident that Emory and there staff are among the best in nation.
