Any body have any luck loosing weight while on the tamoxofin? I have gained 25lbs since Nov 2006 when I started it. Very depressing. I am a very active person. Not routine exercise, but yard work, cleaning, watching little ones. All of which I enjoy very much. I seem to have alot of energy, just can't seem to loose the weight.

    Dear zprider,

    Dear zprider,

I was on Tamoxifen for six months and was worried about gaining weight. I asked my onocologist about it and she laughed and said that eating would make me gain weight, not the tamoxifen. :) I didn't have a problem with weight gain although I did have hotflashes and sleeplessness nights. There are so many other things going on with our bodies after we're diagnosed (chemo, radiation, anxiety, depression, etc.) that it could be something else.

    Thanks Dawne,
    Hot flashes

    Thanks Dawne,
Hot flashes and sleeplessness are biggys for me to. I am on effexor for the hot flashes(which is a weight gain med)and ambien to sleep. Sleep is good. Hot flashes still bad, even after 4 years.
On the info I got on WebMD, a side effect was weight gain. I have talked with others who have gained 40lbs on it. I also think with no estrogen in my body is a factor too.
    Of course everyone is different.

I am not on tamox, but, I think it is one of the side effects if I read the list right. I have read on here where some gain weight and some don't, which could be due to the tamox, or, something else. Good luck!
