Hi,

My mom was recently diagnosed with AML (A month and a half ago). She has been in the hospital since. She has an anterior mediastinal mass - which is in her chest. I am curious if anyone has ever heard of this before. I am very scared - please help.

My brother has the same thing. He was diagnosed in 2005 and after chemo and radiation he was in remission for 5 years. It did come back and he is fixing to start treatment. I'm curious on what kind of treatment your mom is receiving and who her doctor is. I hope she is doing well. I am so puzzled with this diagnosis. I am an oncology nurse but I do not have alot of experience and I'm trying to research this to find answers. It is a very scary time. I know it's hard watching someone you love suffer and I'm so sad that we are about to go down this road again. Please let me know what I can do to help? We can work together to find answers.

My mom was in remission from the first induction chemo but it came back shortly after and she went for her second round however her body was immune to the chemo and it no longer is effective.. now they are looking at clinical trials... but nervous because they are all so new and there is no gaurentee to the outcome and not enough trials done prior to have an idea. I hope all is well with you brother.. i found an article one time about aml with a tumor and that was it but they said there has only been like 10 documents cases.. really strange. Don't know where any of it came from :( I will pray for your brother. thank you for your response.
