Anyone every have a blood clot in the upper thigh? Monday was chemo, Tuesday was bad, Wednesday was good until around 7:00 p.m. My upper back thigh started hurting so bad I couldn't sit anymore. Everytime I would move that leg would be like one long painful muscle soreness. I didn't do anything on Wednesday, didn't even get out of the house, so I don't think I hit anything right there. Thursday it was hurting so bad I was taking Tramadol (100 mg) then two hours later Heydroco/apap (10/650mg). I'm not a cryer and not much of a complainer and I have a pretty high pain tolerance and I hate to have to call my husband at work to come home. But all those things happened. I also called the oncologist's nurse. She called me back, got the specifics, then called me back again to say an assistant would call me back with an appointment for a doppler. I got a call this morning to be at the imaging center at 10:30 a.m.
I'm kind of scared about it being a blood clot because my doctor may not even look at the results today and I've had one before and I know how fast you need to be in the hospital.

Keep me in your thoughts,
Debbie in Arkansas

keeping you in thought and prayer
    Hi Debbie,

Let us know when you hear what it is & I will be keeping you in prayer. If it's a blood clot, they can remedy that- they'll put you on blood thinners.
    Take care of yourself!

    Good Thoughts
Good thoughts are being sent your way. I was dx'd with a clot behind my right knee in February. I thought I had pulled a muscle, as the pain was in my right calf. I took muscle relaxers for about 4 days, then realized it had to be something else.

I was not put in the hospital. I was put on Coumadin, and had to take shots of Arixtra for a few days while waiting for the Coumadin to take effect.

I did have to go into the hospital in March for a fever, I took that opportunity to have an IVC filter put in. For those of you who don't know, it is a small titanium device that lookes like the spokes of an umbrella. Mine is implanted in a vein near the renal area, so it will catch a clot from either leg. If the clot breaks free, the filter either catches the whole thing, or shreds it into pieces too small to hurt you. It was impanted by a catheter through my jugular vein. No stiches required, just a tiny scar shows. I love the peace of mind I have, just knowing it is there!

So now I have a titanium IVC filter and a titanium port. How much more do I need before I can claim "bionic woman" status???? LOL

    I had a similar experience
I had a similar experience this week. Wed night I woke up at 4 am with a sharp pain in my upper thigh. It felt like a muscle cramp. I thought I must have pulled a muscle. I went to work on Thur, but I was limping and it hurt all day. The pain was mainly in my upper thigh, but would go down my leg. I called my onc nurse this morning because it still hurt a lot. They said to go to the hospital today for an ultrasound of both legs. It was not a blood clot. My onc said it is probably a strained muscle or pinched nerve . He said to watch it for a few days and if it doesn't get better they would probably do an MRI. He told me before the test, that if it was a blood clot they probably would admit me to the hospital right away. Good Luck.

    Blood Clot
The ultrasound didn't find a clot, so I guess it was just a REAL BAD muscle spasm. Where my pain was wouldn't have been a clot, anyway, so the tech told me. I've had lots of muscle spasms before (I was very athletic until I hit my 40's) and I've never had one that would make me cry.

Thank you all. The thigh is feeling a lot better today.

    Good
Good to hear. You can probably breath a little better knowing it wasn't anything major. Take care and God Bless. Margaret
