My husband David just completed a major liver resection at M D Anderson and has been declared CANCER FREE! He was diagnosed April 2008 stage 3C and eight months later a liver tumor was found moving him to 4. He had surgery March 24 and spent ten days in the hospital, was admitted again for an abscess and discharged today.

The surgeon said he as a 70% chance of a cure! This is after two local surgeons told him he was inoperable. Thank goodness for the doctors at MDA cancer center. They made the impossible possible. For those of you stage 4, please don't give up. Get those second and third opinions and go to a major center if you can. There is always HOPE!

Best wishes and prayers and positive thoughts to all the Semi's and their caregivers.

Priscilla from San Antonio

Like you said, this really shows the importance of getting more than 1 opinion and also of going to a major center. Bob's Furniture may be good for furniture (they REALLY are good) but I wouldn't go to Bob's Liver Resection Warehouse!
Congrats to your husband and to you!

    Great News
    Priscilla
Congratulations on the wonderful news. I too have much confidence in MDA. I travel there every 3 months for my check ups. That's a place where miracles can happen. Not every case is a miracle, but there are enough of them to give us hope.

    wonderful News
Great to hear your wonderful news. I have always said that if I get cancer I would go to MD Anderson. But, my husband was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer met. to the liver. He underwent surgery At the Billings Clinic, Billings, MT, successfully. Then 6 months of chemo. Last week was NED. I now have confidence in the Billings Clinic as well as MD Anderson. We both have something to celebrate.

    Hi Priscilla

Great news on your husband, David. 2nd opinions are one of our biggest tools in our arsenal of weapons, it seems.

I've heard many good things about MDA - I'm a Houston native. So, really glad that his odds have improved...it's amazing what some doctors see and others do not.

And thank you for your kind words the other day - oh and BTW, nice to meet you and David. I hope everything is "behind you" now - it's a great story that will bring hope to those in the fight now. And that's always needed!
