NED!!!

It doesn't seem possible coming from a diagnosis of Stage IIIC Figo Grade 2, but I got a nod from my Onc/Gyn doc that I am in remission. (My diagnosis, and treatments are posted in my bio) He said I don't have to come back for 3 months unless I exhibit symptoms like vaginal bleeding and the like. I am thrilled and at the same time apprehensive. I wanted to share with you guys though, since a lot of ladies read the posts and I wanted them to know that there is hope. I still have a long way to go to reach that 5 year mark. However, this is the first step toward it, the blessed words "no evidence of disease". There was a small cyst on the liver and a tiny nodule on the lung that needs watching in the future. Otherwise, all systems look good.

I had been having a lot of pain since surgery in Oct. and thought it was from scarring internally. Turns out it was a ureteral stent inserted during surgery when my ureter was nicked while they were debulking the cancer. When the stent was removed last week no more pain. Have to go back for an IVP next Fri to make sure the ureter healed properly. If not have to have another stent inserted. Like Rose Anna Rose Annadann said "It's always something". I will deal with it if it happens. At least the worse is over.

I have to share with you guys that I feel like God has given me this time of "no evidence of disease". Not because I am super religious or deserving of it. I don't know why I am NED. I accept whatever comes my way and am thankful for each day that God gives me. I sincerely pray for each of you. Those who post and those who read the site and don't post. May we all find peace and healing.

The testing done where I am in treatment is a CAT Scan with contrasts and barium. Thorax, Pelvis, and Abdomen. Also blood work. My CA 125 was 23. It was running around 10 for the time I was on chemo. Since I had a upper respiratory tract infection when they did the blood work, doc thinks the rise could be related to inflamation. I go in for tests every 3 months. These tests showed bladder, intestines, abdomen all looked fine.

NED is wonderful. May you have many more scans that show NED. Celebrate the great news. Glad your pain is better with the stent removed. Here's hoping that the ureter is healed. In peace and caring.

Thank you for the encouragement. I really appreciate it. I plan to do some camping, and visiting my newly married daughter in Illinois. One of the good things about the cancer diagnosis is that I am going to stop putting off things I want to do til later.

When I got back from my radiation treatment in December we planted the front garden with roses, petunias, and caladium. Now the roses are starting to have buds and the petunias are full of blossoms. Caladium are a little slow at peeking their heads out, we had an unseasonably cool winter, I am sure they will make their appearance soon. I am trying to have something blooming all during the year. Got my inspiration from the Houston Medical Complex. They have the most amazing gardens. Always something lovely in bloom. The roses are wonderful. There is a whole block of them in front of the main hospital at M. D. Anderson. The volunteers cut them daily and bring them to the patients rooms.

I celebrated by buying one of the outrageously expensive hats in the M. D. Anderson gift shop. It is black and has SURVIVOR in rhinestones across the front. Normally it would be a little gaudy for me, but what the heck. I feel like I have earned wearing it like a badge of courage on my fuzzy bald head. By the way my hair is coming in blonde. My husband laughs, he said it is grey. I said, when babies sport this white fuzz they are said to be blonde, so why can't I?? So, I am growing white blond hair...hahahaha....I had a customer the other day (we have a lumber company and the majority of customers are males) say I look hot with a bald head. I figure he must have meant hot like in the heat because I don't see myself as being especially attractive right now. I think I look like a baby bird...hahaha...thanks for the encouragement guys...and remember what don't kill us makes us stronger.

Congratulations!!!!! What a perfect time to be told, spring. I went up north for spring break and it felt great to see the flowers blooming. It's a new beginning. Enjoy.

(I am also in the NED club and got to see my granddaughter this past week. She's 2 months old and it was my first time to hold her. Isn't life precious?)
