edited March 2014 in Breast Cancer #1
Ok here goes another waiting game. I had my herceptin treatment yesterday and it was time for the monthly cbc and cmp. Have onc appt. on the 10th of March, so they also pulled hormones, estradol and thyroid. I have a port so it's a breeze. My treatment was coming to the end and the nurse said " I need to pull a couple more tubes". "What's it for"? asks me. Said she, " Dr wants additional blood for more tests." He's not my onc. SOOO, getting down to the question. I'm almost a yr post surgery. What blood tests are routine? Did he see something that needs to be addressed? Am I paranoid? I think I was told once there isn't blood tests ( markers?)to see if the cancer is back? haven't ever really questioned this. Your thoughts and views please. Thanks Gayla

I have my blood tested every
I have my blood tested every month (markers) to see what the count is. I've been doing chemo again for mets to the bone from B/C and it just lets the dr know if you still have tumors in the body.
Hang in there, it'll be okay. Ask your dr questions for every little thing if your not sure.

    Much luv,

    question
I'm too new to offer help unfortunately. But I'm wondering, what's CMP? I just went for that, too, and I thought maybe it stands for complete metabolic panel, and I didn't think to ask.

    Thanks,
    Victoria

I don't think it is abnormal
I don't think it is abnormal to get your blood tested. Sounds like you have a very good oncologist. Wishing you well!

I have lots of blood work done. They are checking for lots of things, some unrelated to the bc. Let us know what your results are. Sending you hugs!
