Hi,
Going along the theme of alternative supplements- read the Cimetidine (Tagamet?) thread posted by Diane. It was talked about on another thread, as well- definitely read it and consider it if you haven't yet.

Anyhow, I had heard from Serrana a while back about the possible benefits of certain kinds of mushrooms. Reishi mushroom extract supposedly can address several ailments, including possibly cancer. Here's a link to read about how it can help with cancer (sorry I don't know how to make it so you just have to click on it)...this article is about a clinical trial that was done on it in the UK. The article is dated Aug 2005. www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/20968.php

The following link is another site where you can buy it. It talks about all it can do, but doesn't mention cancer. Interesting that it does supposedly help a whole list of other ailments, however. Its nickname is the "mushroom of mortality".

Happy researching and reading! Does anyone have any other interesting info on this or any other supplements?

You have to get the anti cancer book, it is awesome! I posted the TOC earlier. I remember when I was diagnosed and wanted sugar sooooooooo bad, after 50 years for staying away from sugar because I had no interest it. Well this doctor talks about how white flour and sugar being the worst thing to put in your body, it creates insulin which feeds the tumor big time! It is a very interesting book, in more ways then one. I love the CD but wish I had the book, because he gives you so many references and websites. He has done so much leg work!

By the way the Kashi frozen meals are awesome!

Man typo galore! Fixed.

I read the Anti-cancer book, and had to recommended it too. It was very inspirational, and offered tons of information. It's so funny the experiences he had with his doctors and colleagues, being a doctor himself. They treated him similarly to how i was treated as far as the docs poo-pooing stress as an illness trigger, and not listening to him about anything. I think we should be giving that book out to our doctors to read! It could change the whole mentality of the medical industry!

Hugs!

Portabella mushrooms are inflammation fighters. Saute some in olive oil, add some garlic, then squash, and the sliced mushrooms, then you can add a fresh tomato. Simmer until a'la dente. Sprinkle some ginger on it, a bit of pepper and garlic salt. Presto, that was my meal tonight!
