I finished chemo 3 weeks ago and still feeling a little sluggish. Should I be taking vitamins now to build myself back up? Which are the best to take? I just got some B-complex, C, E, and Selenium, I read these are good to take for fighting cancer. Anything else?

    Hello, Larissa..
are you going to have rads???
if so, you have to wait to take vitamins until treatment is done.
if not, you can take a multivitamin, omega and vitamin D.

Talk to the doc to see if you can take the vitamins fisrt and ask if these are the ones they recommend. I take my vitamins at night before bed because I think they get the best chance to stay in my body then.

    I couldn't take any vitamins
I couldn't take any vitamins during rads. My rads oncologist explained that you don't want your cells being healthy, good cells or cancer cells. You want them weak, so, I didn't take any. Ask your own oncologist and see what he says.

I was told by my doctor that vitamin c helps strengthen cells. So, if you have a tiny cancer cell you don't want to take any extra c. Natural vitamin c from fruit and etc is fine. Please ask your doctor what he or she thinks!

My onc thinks vitamins are a waste of time but I could take them. I didnt take them much but along with my general inability to eat i dont think they would hurt. but if you eat well and can get it naturally that seems best. rads onc said multivitamin only. every center is different.

I don't know about chemo and vitamins, but, when I took rads, I was told no vitamins. It wasn't a big deal to just not take any for those weeks. I doubt it hurt anything. I resumed taking them after I completed radiation. Check with your own oncologist and rads oncologist. Do whatever they tell you. Good luck!

Just eat the right foods and you won't need any vitamins!
Eat lots of fresh fruit and veges, whole wheat, fish, ect. to make sure you are covering all your vitamin bases!
