Hello all,

After surgery for Type 1 back in 2006 (and 8 cycles of Xeloda), I'm back with at least one mets spot on my lung. :(

Been watching a spot for the past two years on my right lung that finally got big enough to biopsy in October. Lung biopsy confirmed that it's the colon cancer - guess a scout did get out :( - with possible other spots on both lungs as well.
However, my PET Scan in November had no flare ups at all (even the spot we confirmed as cancer via the biopsy).

I'm currently on #3 of 6 cycles of Irrotican (or as my Dr calls it "I run to the can") with Xeloda for 14 days (21 day cycle). Only side effect so far is losing some hair (but hey... wearing a wig and having perfect hair each day is actually kind of nice).

Heading in for another CT Scan tomorrow to see how things are progressing and not looking forward to waiting another week to get those results back.

I'm driving folks around me nuts with my "go get a d*mn colonoscopy already" talks :)
Mona

Sorry you had to rejoin the club. Sounds like your doctors are staying on top of things. Here is hoping the chemo is doing its job on those pesky mets. Waiting for results from a CT is awful but it comes with the territory. Good luck with your CT tomorrow and remember just put one foot in front of the other to beat this monster down. Take care and keep us apprised of your reseults - Tina

    So sorry
    Mona,

I'm so sorry you're fighting this again. I'll be praying for a speedy recovery. As one who was also diagnosed Stage 1, your case makes me particularly sad.

    *hugs*

Always Room At the Inn :)
    Hi Mona

Waiting and watching...I had a similar ordeal back in June09, so I can empathize with all of the process that we have to go through to make our determinations on our next course of action.

Scan results waiting is always the worst - and you can never take them for granted.

Here's hoping that things turn out well for you with your results :)

Welcome back and nice to meet you, BTW.

    Hi Mona
Well, I think it's good that it's not regular lung cancer and they are mets from the CC. Good old CPT11 (irrotican). It works well but does cause the hair thinning. I'm on that and Erbitux for my lung mets. Is there a possibility of a RFA (radio frequency ablation) in the lungs? I recently had one with good success.
Hope the scan results go well. I did have one last week and within 30 minutes the scan was up in the system (no physical report yet) and I was able to review it with my surgeon.
I see my onc tomorrow to go over it closer.
