The crown of my scalp is just killing me, is this normal?? or a chemo thing? I swear, I wash it, brush it, even leaving a towel on it to dry hurts it so bad. I do put my hair up sometimes, but haven't lately, because it's been hurting so bad, I was wondering, is anyone else's scalp really tender?

Hugsss!

    Shots
If you are taking neuopgen shots or a booster for white blood counts that is what had my head hurting. It was terrible when I had to wash or brush my hair. Actually my whole body hurt from those shots. Hope you feel better soon.

What a trip what chemo does
I'm sure glad mine doesn't hurt. It sure trips me out on what chemo can do to a persons body. I have been cold for months!!!! just cant get warm!!

    Life is funny sometimes

    sore scalp
    Hi Donna -

Yes, my scalp hurt from the CPT-11 (irinotecan). Unfortunately, it also meant that a large quantity of my hair was falling out. It does grow back - even while on the chemo.

    Hi
I don't know if you'd ever call me NORMAL! But I do have a sensitive scalp once in a while and it seems to be on the top of my scalp all the time!

    WEIRD!

    I feel that too
I first noticed it when I was on 5-fu over the summer. I hated it because where my head was sore the next day it would fall out in that same spot! Now it's back and of course I blame the FOLFOX. So don't worry it's normal:)

    had that happen too
    Hi Donna,

Ouch, I just hate that! I had it happen too & am pretty sure it's from the irinotecan (same thing as CPT-11). Sometimes when it happened, my hair would thin out in that spot and other times the soreness went away without anything falling out.
Now that I'm on this other treatment, I'm looking forward to my hair starting to grow back soon (I didn't lose it, but it definitely thinned out). I'll soon have more little spiky hairs sticking up all over my head through the rest of my hair!
Hopefully yours won't fall out more, but you know that it will grow back again.

    Hugs to you Donna-

    Thanks All!!
Whew!! I thought it was just me, thanks for the replies all, I don't seem to be losing more hair, but for a couple weeks now, it's just been killing me. Hopefully once they stop the Irinotecan next month, it will get better!!

    Hugsss to you all!

    Yep
I got that too, even the wind blowing it a different direction would make it hurt. Be gentle, right after that my hair started falling out.

    Mine did too...on FOLFOX
I remember that clearly. It did hurt in the first few weeks. Before/and during massive hair loss. It was that feeling of having a ponytail in for a long time and then taking it down...that is the only way i know how to relate it. But it was all over my head. hurt to do anything, even lay on it. BUT...it did go away. hoping it does the same for you!

    H!
Thanks for making sense out of the whole scalp ordeal. My scalp is killing me when I move my hair from one side of my head to the other I could scream and my scalp oils have a stronger odor. Chemo has its weird affects for sure. I really feel it after I get the neulasta shot. I don't know why but lately after my neulasta I've been so so tired - I feel worse than during the chemo treatment days. Does anyone know what could be causing me to feel so sick from this shot. I thought anything to boost the white count should be somewhat better but its making me worse. Hugs.

I got sick after the neulasta shot as well.
it started about an hour after.
    I'd be a little nauseous,and get a headache.
    it lasted a couple days.
