Just ovver 3 years ago I was diagnosed with an 11cm renal cell carcinoma, had a radical (12" incision) to remove kidney and had a lot of discomfort following surgery due to scar tissue and adhesians; am still taking a nightly painkiller to help with that. Then at the beginning of this year I had a lump on my thyroid which I thought was probably a harmless goitre; eventually went to endocrinologist who recommended biopsy; insufficient material for diagnosis was obtained so I eventually (May) had a thyroidectomy only to be told 2 weeks later that another renal cell carcinoma was found in the thyroid! Apart from surgery, have had no further treatment although there are a couple of small spots on my remaining kidney. My oncologist says he will not put me on sunitinib until(if and when) they are bigger.
I would like to hear from anyone else who has had secondaries after kidney cancer.
