Hi All, I read & research on this site but don't often post. This time, I thought I would post to see if you've experienced this..... Thoughts???

Blake had an appt with the Palliative doc yesterday. He broke down & told her he was DONE. He does not want any more chemo. He's sick & tired of being SICK & TIRED! This doc is great, she showed such huge compassion telling him that it was HIS CHOICE and that she would give him permission to stop treatment if that's what he needed. He must have felt some guilt about stopping treatment and I think she made him feel so much better. He doesn't want to disappoint me & the kids but he just can't take it anymore. So, after 5 treatments of Folfiri w/ Avastin - he's decided to quit. We, as a family, have assured him that we will support ANY decision he makes in his battle. And, we won't look backward; no "what-if's."

Fast forward to today. Blake had his scheduled PET scan this morning. We got the results that there is NO VISABLE CANCER!!! Can you believe it? What great news that Blake really needed to hear! From six messenteric tumors down to nothing in 2 months! Folfiri beat the beasts down!!! He sees the Onc on Tuesday so, we'll just see how it plays out. Who knows, this may have been all he needed to hear. Proof that the chemo beating he is voluntarily getting isn't all in vain.

(For those who don't know, Blake's been battling a recurrence to his messentary & peritoneum).

    Hi Kathy:

    The first part of your husband's story made me a little sad. I know we all have to do what we feel is best for our particular situation. I'm back on treatment -I've had all different kinds of treatments over the past almost 3 years. The second part of the story made me go "WOW" - this is like a miracle of healing. I wish it could be my story. Things happen for a reason. Whatever the reason, it's great to hear that someone else is moving towards being disease free. Please keep us updated. Take care. Roy

    WOW! That is awesome news! Best to you when you meet with the Onc. What a lift to Blake's spirit. I know that my husband feels so much stronger with some good news and you just got a ton of good news!!

    Great news just what I needed to hear this morning. I know that may sound selfish, but good news like this always makes my day. I am so very happy for him and your family. Please keep us posted on how Blake is doing and let him know he is not alone, we are all fighting with him!

    That beginning really saddened me as well, to give up like that after a few treatments, it is hard, I know, and people make their own choices, but eventually you never know the good it can do down the road, just roll with them punches, it's what the cancer wants you to do..give up! I am glad to hear that the end is alot better, what a miracle! see? the lord was hearing him, wow, I'm so glad to hear that news. Never give up, there are alot of options down the road, and I know how hard it is to be sick and tired all the time, but sometimes the body can adapt to it, mine seems to be, I am being disconnected today, and I swear, I feel like a ball of energy today, lol...

    Maybe some background....
    Thank you so much for your kind words!!! While reading them, it dawned on me that I may not have been completely clear on his background. To quickly recap, Blake was dx 10/2007, colon & liver resection 11/2007 1LN. Tumor in colon was pressing against peritoneal wall. Folfox through 05/2008. NED until 7/2009 when we found out about the peritoneal & messentary spread. Technically, he just finished his 17th treatment - just had an 15 month break in between.

    As many of you know, this type of spread is really, really bad news. While we know there is still a HUGE fight ahead, the news of the clear scan was so needed and so timely!!! My gut feeling is that he'll hang in there.

    One last thought, I know there has been some talk about HIPEC on this board lately. Blake has considered it but has chose NOT to pursue this option. We have read and researched a bunch on this topic & feel it's just not a match.
