anyone in boston ?

One year ago this week I began my "bad year"..I live on cape cod and was able to stay at the newly opened Astra Zeneca Hope Lodge in Jamaica Plain ,Boston... I lived there for 5 weeks (chemo/radiation) treatments.. This was and is the most wonderful place.. They will be celebrating their 1st birthday Sat.Nov.7th with an open house reception.. They will be accepting gifts for the residents... ANYTHING ie; (a book of stamps, a gift card to c.v.s. ,stop and shop,local eateries, a dozen muffins,coffee, and of course money for supplies. I will be attending as I have just finished all the "B.S." this cancer has caused. Go to a.c.s. hope lodge boston It is a true MIRACLE for so many people and their families !

    these non-profit hope houses / lodges are the greatest thing since applie pie. Morgantown, WV has one and people don't realize the importance of a non-profit like this. Trying to receive the best cancer treatment for your cancer can take you far away from home and having to pay for local lodging is very, very costly.

    I think very cancer center, hospital, etc., should have one of these available.

    I live just outside of Boston myself and actually work for AstraZeneca. A group of us recently visited the lodge and we donated some baking goods and even baked treats while we were there for the folks staying there. It truly is an amazing and wonderful place and made me feel very appreciative that we could help out in some way. These places are a godsend to the folks living further away and gives them a nice place to stay but even more a caring community of people to be with.
    I am also a cc patient at Dana farber and just finished my halfway point of folfox treatments and was able to appreciate what those folks were going thru.
