What not to do when you go to the oncologist

Today was my klutzy day. I had an appointment with my oncologist to check my counts since my last chemo was three weeks ago. My husband dropped me off at the front of the building and I got out of the car and shut the car door on my finger. Boy did that hurt!!!! I picked a good place to do it though. They went and got the oncologist to look at it and kept bringing me ice bags to put on it. They called security and he wanted to take a report but since I wasn't going to the ER or turning it into insurance, he didn't. The doctor said I would survive but my fingernail won't. The good news is my counts were normal and I'm done with chemo. Now I'm waiting for the radiologist to call and schedule my radiation. They did a CT scan and marked me up in preparation for it last week.

Congratulations, Bev, on finishing your chemo. That's a great feeling, I know, I just finished mine 2 weeks ago. I'm on to rads next too. We can do these together. There are some great discussions on this site from a few sisters that have recently gone through rads. Best of luck to you and take care of that finger, ouch!!

On finishing chemo that is. Glad everything is normal (except the finger. Ouch!) and that this phase is over. Hope that radiation is a snap for you.

You get all the way through
You get all the way through chemo treatment and don't loose a nail and now you are loosing one to the car door...side effect of life. Hugs. (for you new ones this is my sister-didn't want you to think I was being hard on her)
