There has been some visits by spammers who post messages that contain links... these messages have nothing to do with the string that they are posting in and the links freeze your computer.
I keep flagging them as offensive but would like to report them so that they can be blocked altogether - is that possible and does anyone here know how?

There everywhere! On every board! I'm flagging as many as I can and noticed others are apparently doing the same.

I e-mailed CSN with the user name and asked them if they could remove these problems more quickly. Maybe if they receive multiple e-mails addressing this they will find a way to get it off the boards faster.

There are many new postings that are not getting attention because they are moved so far down the board!!

There are some really mean people in this world!!

Trish { I notice that the spammer is still at it, you get everything flagged on one board and before you know it, theres another one!! }

The latest spammer ID is "annonymous"....and has been quite prolific - this time not just 4 or 5 message threads but the whole page! ! !

I think Anonymous is actually the CSN people who removed the spam sent out by Username 32 that was the spammer. I emailed CSN about the spam and they wrote back that they had removed the postings. I am guessing that CSN is "Anonymous" because there is nothing in the thread that shows a message from Anonymous.

I agree with you all - why would someone do that to a board like this. Dazey

Trish, I am not an administrator at CSN, of course, but if they have not yet contacted you about what you can do, I might suggest first that you can go to the top of the board area, select CREATED ON (or whatever it says, above the first listed post) and indicate that you want to sort them in CREATED order, last to first. This will allow you to see the latest posts without missing them because of a spammer (I think the default is to list by latest reply).

As for spammers, it is important to continue flagging them when you see them, even if, and you can be sure of this, you are not alone in doing so. Alternatively, when you see efforts of the magnitude of the one perpetrated by this Anonymous character, you can choose to go to the CSN webmaster email address and send a note expressing your concern. By doing this instead or in addition, you are sure to get their attention and probably a kind note from the staff as well.

And please be advised that not all of the 'mean people in this world' are blatant spammers. Some of them, for whatever inexplicable reason, enjoy instead coming in here to CSN and presenting themselves as survivors and caregivers. I am, from time to time, excoriated for asking questions of people, questions I ask for this very reason. I have been a frequent visitor to this site for nearly four years now and have seen firsthand the kind of emotional turmoil that some folks are dragged through in dealing with these creeps, coming to care for them on occasion, swept up by the purported circumstances, only to be more greatly devastated by the discovery that they and their hearts have been duped.

When I am being reasonable with the world, I content myself with the notion that these people have even larger problems than we do, but most of the time I am angered by the audacity of it.

Take care,

Joe
