Pain management

What frustrates me is how seemingly indifferent some of the doctors and nurses seem to be to the level of pain. I had a ureteroscopy and the doctor had me carrying a stent for several days. The pain was horrifying. It was like getting given a kidney stone. How dare any doctor expect that to be endured at home? If they're going to do something like that, I say the patient has a right to be hospitalized the entire time, and given pain medication as powerful as required.
