edited March 2014 in Breast Cancer #1
Also known as Mondors Cord aka Thrombophlebitis of the Superficial Vein. Affects .05 - .09% of women who have had severe trauma to the breast. Not serious just painful for a while and will eventually go away on its' own. I feel very special! LOL

Anyway this is what doc thinks. I am seeing specialist surgeon tomorrow and hope this is all this is.

Anyway thank you all for all your good wishes and healing thoughts. Huge hugs to you all. Jxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

.05 - .09%: that is pretty special! Glad that it appears to be something that will resolve itself. Also, glad that you have a specialist's appointment so quickly to verify what you heard today.

    Egads, dear J!
Whew - am relieved, very, that it's "not serious"... While still sorry for your pain. Did the doc give you any meds for some relief? Sincerely hoping that the surgeon tomorrow will, indeed, confirm what you were told today.

Good grief! This happens to .05-.09%, and it happened to you? That's simply crappy.

Take good care of yourself, dear J. Feel better, really soon. And, please - keep us posted. Extra gentle hugs backatcha.

    Kind regards, Susan

Maybe aka Web Axillary Syndrome. I had one from under my arm all the way down to my thumb. Resolved itself (by dissolving) in a couple of months but sure hurt before it is. Good luck!

    Mondor's disease
Julia, it is so awful for something to be painful and look wrong and not have a clue what is going on. Add on being a breast cancer survivor and the pain taking place in the breast... GULP. I am so glad that you were able to see someone today who could diagnose Mondor's and reassure you that you ARE going to get better and it is not the cancer (primal fear). xoxox Lynn

    Tash,
Hope you start feeling better soon!Glad that you found a doc who was able to diagnose your problem.I have been a part of a small percentage before to get something(and it wasn't a good something). I got shingles once and was a part of the small percentage who got nerve pain from it after-kind of sucks, huh!!

Thanks for putting the words AWS next to "cord"
I have cording too, but never knew its formal name. Caused by trauma to the lymphatic system following breast surgery...resolves itself in 2 -3 months, NOT. It occurred after my double mastectomy on my bc side from my axilla to my elbow. A year later I still have a little cording in my axilla and some restricted motion. It is good to understand better what is going on! Now I have words to find out for myself. The info I received from my doctors and PT just did not have depth or breadth. I wonder if once it resolves, the chances of lymphedema diminish. xoxoxo Lynn
