I am a 2 year colon cancer survivor. I was told that my Cat scan was normal but showed that my heart was enlarged. My oncologist didn't feel that I needed any testing for this. I've never had high blood pressure or had any problems relating to my heart. I'm very petite and have always been this way. I have a very supportive husband. However my oldest son doesn't call very often, I am usually the one who calls first. He is married and her family always comes first. This is really hurtful to me but I just can't seem to tell him how I feel. I know that there are alot of others out there who deal with this too. How do others handle this?

But his distancing had more to do with his own emotional turmoil rather than my or our parents illnesses. Family members "distance" for various reasons, often having nothing to do with us or our situations. If I learned anything from my brother's example, it is that it is up to "us" to reach out to "them" when "they" are either unwilling or unable to do it themselves. I wish to God that I had called my brother just to ask, "Bob, what is wrong and how can I help?" Try making the first move.

Love and Courage!
