    Hi Peb! My radiation was
Hi Peb! My radiation was scheduled 6 weeks after my lumpectomy. I

think that is kind of the standard. They want to be sure that you are healed up before the

rads, which by 6 weeks, I think most are. So, good luck to you!

    is that it then?
How does one feel after the radiation treatments? Do you feel like now you can go on or is the worry always with you? I just want this be done. Everything is going so fast. Found out june 18th and now surgery will be July 1st! I wish radiation would be sooner..

    I understand
I remember getting my diagnosis in September and figuring I could easily be done by Christmas. Didn't turn out that way. Instead it was Easter. By the time my hair is back to normal it will be at least a year. I don't say this to discourage you. Only to prepare you that this all takes time and unexpected things sometimes pop up. I agree with you--I just want this to be done. I have five years of taking Arimidex ahead of me with Zometa infusions every six months (I think) and bone scans I don't know how often (just had my first one this morning.) I can see that it will continue to drag on and on. However, I do feel so much better. I'm back to a regular routine and energy level. I don't think about it 24/7. I expect to live a normal life. So don't be disheartened, just be patient.

    Best wishes to you.

    I'm a planner
I too think the time frame for all the testing and results and treatment is unbearably too long.

4-6 weeks for rads. You really need to be healed after surgery as to not cause any more damage to already sensitive tissue. I think as much as we want it to be over with, we need to give our bodies a break too. :) Pammy

    How one feels after
How one feels after radiation is really up to that individual. I doubt that there is one uniform way to feel. Some feel lost, some feel happy, some probably don't know what to feel. I think the idea of a recurrence is always with one, but, you don't dwell on it, or, let it rule your life. You have surgery, chemo, radiation, hormone therapy and whatever else is required to help you. Then, you get out and live!
