HI For those who have had a reocurrance after a fight with rectal cancer. I had mine come back last March 2008 after being "cancer free" for 11 months. Had 6 months of folfiri and the turmors in the lung and liver dissappeared. The dr said I am as close to NED as I can get. No sign of disease. I praise our Lord every day and appreciate each day given. I also take charge of my health. I exercise almost every day and take about 11 different vitamins, and I drink blueberry monster by Odwalla to keep my red counts up. Just want those to know that there is always hope and you too can and will get through this. Have faith. enjoy each day. and remember to smile, laugh and be thankful. God is there for us all

    More energy to you!!!
Jill... that is the most excellent news!!

It just goes to show that you have been surrounded by loved ones who have sent wonderful, powerful healing thoughts out to the universe and they have been returned tenfold to you, as thoughts and energy are meant to do!! Your energy was not meant to leave this planet quite yet... obviously there are still things unfinished that you are here to complete.

That's the one wonderous thing about quantum physics! Our bodies and inner energy (some people refer to his inner energy as souls, but it's the energy that makes us unique from each other and every living creature) are so in sync with each other. When there is damage to one, it takes energy to heal either, the body or the "soul". The more healing, energy thoughts that go out into the universe, the more that come back. "Be careful what you think" is soooo true! If you think you are not going to make it, then it will be a tough battle to win... if you truly believe you are going to make it and you have a whole team of folk believing the same thing, then the healing energy you get in return is incredibly healing!

Big huggggggs and a huge thank you to the Universe!!! ]

here is my list of vitamins
    Vitamins I take daily 2009

    Acai 1000mg
    Selenium 200mg
    Beta carotene 25,000 IU
    Vitamin C 500mg
    Milk thistle 200mg
    Calcium 500m +D
    Multi vitamin
    Super B complex
    Vitamin D 1000 IU x2
    Nac 600 mg
    Zinc 50 mg
    1 baby aspirin 81ml (I'm 52)
1 previcid-perscription (helps with heart burn)

I usually purchase the mon line through iherb. I but "new" brand I believe. But it really doesn't matter too much. I look at the mg, IU or ml and if they are caplet, capsuls or pills.
As always, talk to your dr before starting. I go to UCSF and he said it's fine for me.
Exercise is probably the number one gift you can give yourself to help with the fight.
God bless you and take care

    exerciste is number one
good for you for being NED. How long has it been not that it matters because I beleve God has a plan for us all. To me nutrition is harder because of bowel problems. I can't eat all the salads I love but fruit doesn't seem to bother me. I tend not to eat much red meat and I do eat rice, pasta and potatoes. Digest better for me. Take care and keep up the good work

    Folfiri
    Jill:

Your story is a wonderful one and very well timed. I just returned from my oncologist. I have completed the surgical removal of the rectal tumor. The next step is Folfuri for my liver. I was bummed by the need for such serious treatment.

I am pleased though to read your success story using the same chemo. Congrats to you and enjoy your NED.

When do you start the Folfiri? I think we'll be starting together! I'm also a Stage IV and should start Folfiri in 2-3 weeks along with Avastin. What's your plan? My liver is ok, so far, but the lungs arent.

    Taking Care
I'm eating more fruits and veges, almost no red meat, more fish and
found I love sardines, highest in omega-3 and least in mercury contam,
fruits, drink pomegranite juice, blueberries, dark red and purple grapes,
more spices like tumeric and cinammon, I don't juice but use olive oil
to saute green veges, more olive oil the better, also garlic and onion,

have been NED since surgery july '08 and chemo ended in december '08.
so still not through the two year mark, surgeon still keeping close
eye on scans for two years.

    Wnchie:

I start my Folfiri on May 8th. I will be including Erbitux as well. I had this before and the rash is a nasty one but if it works I will endure. Let's keep in touch and perhaps we can help each other through the side effects.
