Yea!!!! I just had my colonoscopy today, and my gastro said "No polyps, no cancer...come back in 5 years." WHEW!!! I asked him to sign the pic of my J-pouch...lol!

Also, I used the prep that is all pills....OsmoPrep...and it was great! The pills are a bit the size of vitamins, and 4 at a time was interesting....BUT I got to drink what I wanted to wash them down, and so didn't have any nausea!!!!

I'm dancing!!!! It will be 4 years in December since diagnosis...stage III rectal, for those that don't know me!!!! AND I just went to my oncologist on the breast cancer...she has bumped me to a yearly mammogram!!! Just like the 'big girls'....

    You're on the 5 year plan now. Congratulations. What great news. I'll have to try the OsmoPrep next time (2 years from this month). I'm on the 3 year plan.

    Kathi... that is fabulous news!! You should be dancing out in the streets and singing from the top of your lungs... because you CAN!!!! :D

    I don't know your whole story... but when you were diagnosed, I take it you had surgery, chemo and possibly radiation. Did you have any return of cancer anywhere, or any spread to other areas (I guess the breast cancer is not considered a spread, but a separate primary cancer?). The reason I ask, I'm just wondering if your battle included a couple different events of chemo or surgeries... and then you still came out of it successful.

    You and your story is very inspiring!!

    I got the 2-fer...
    My rectal cancer was squamous cell carcinoma, my breast cancer adenocarcinoma...

    Yup, 6 months after chemo/radiation and a bowel resection (lost my rectum and sig colon, J-pouch proceedure), I started over with lumpectomy, chemo/radiation for the breast cancer. 2 weeks after that proceedure, I was back in the hospital with a small bowel obstruction that, once again, required surgery.

    I was infused with cisplatin (or carboplatin..sigh..chemo brain) and 5FU for the rectal cancer which, together with the rads, actually nailed the cancer...but I digress....Then ACT (Adriamycin, Cytoxin, Taxol) for the breast cancer....all within a year's time...

    I actually went to 5 different 2nd opinions on the breast cancer chemo...I just didn't want to go it again, with a new set of chemicals. The last one, at UCLA, head of oncology, responded to my "I am just so weary": "I know, but you fought so hard against the rectal cancer, why would you throw that away by not fighting as hard as you can this time?". I scheduled my chemo the following week...

    Hi Kathi, Your post and all your replays brought tears to my eyes. You are all Heroes to me fighting this terrible disease. You are all so brave and wise with your encouraging words to one another. Im new to CSN, My 82 year old dad has rectum cancer. He has had about 6 rad. treatments and is on Xeloda, so far so good, but we know its still early. He is otherwise healthy and his petscan was good. So hopefully it wont be so bad. I get nervous reading some comments cause so many have had had such a tough time with treatments. But your story was very encouraging. My best to you always, Much Happiness Lisa

    About time you got a break Kath Enjoy the five year holiday. I had a scope a month ago ,unfortunately I'm on 75 mg of prednisone a day and it managed to stuff up my prep. I told them I wasn't clear enough for a scope but they went ahead anyway. Apparently the gi was just able to pick up on some polyps thru the murk so I have to repeat the scope in around four weeks,,,sssssiiiiigggghhhh. Ron.
