Thank you all for responding to my question about how to answer folks who ask if I am cancer free. It is good to know that my mixed feelings are common. I like the comparison with losing a child. Our first child was stillborn. While I consider myself to the the parent of 3, when folks ask about my family, or when we introduce oursleves, we introduce ourselves as a family of 4, not 5. If it comes up later we talk about our first child. I guess with cancer it can be the same way. As far as daily life and normal functioning, I do not have cancer, though in my mind and heart it will always be a part of who I am. Thank you all for your help, once again.

    If our heart is a living room, and we have C in it, it may be like an ugly piece of furniture. So lets redecorate a little. Maybe a slip cover. My slip cover for C is all the love I have been a part of with friends like you. Maybe we can turn C into a useful piece of furniture, like a bookcase full of the ways that I am healing myself, through out, as a result. Maybe we can downplay it, by painting the walls of our heart room a bright, happy color and filling our the room with other good things.

    Thanks to you seof for voicing a question many of us have but sometimes can not articulate. I guess it is best to say we had it and hopefully as the years pass by it will be a very distant thought. Love you all, Lili
